vtec issue ............help

It will be down on power till you get those cams dialled in

so am i understanding u correctly here?
your saying it could have been a head issue
that was resolved with building it but is refuse to make power no due to cam dial????

Correct, there not going to work well at "0" especially if you have skimmed the head or used thinner headgasket which effectively retards the cams. I think you need to bring your car elsewhere tbh.

yeh civic cup car,

yyou need to be 110% on the cam timing what toque an power are you making now ?

tbh i havin been payin attention the last two runs were150/170ish
i have been told its not timing related as the issue was der wen the cars spec was just a stock motor with the buddyclub header and cat back a airbox decat and stock ecu

the head build was done to see if the issue wud stop

head was not skimmed ..
tinner gasket was used ....

will be fitting a different head(stock) from a mates car tat i no is gud durin the week so i will no after tat if it is head related

if not i will be fittin a new engine (stock ) with all my bolt ons and stock ecu

after tat i will replace engine loom

cheers folks

Can you not suggest to your tuner to play with the cam gears on dyno? I gained 7bhp on those same cams by dialling them in on the dyno and picked up almost 10bhp low down-midrange power so it is very important to get those center lines right. I wouldn't go pulling the head off till after that.

im sure i cud ask about it yeah ...

kinda bugging me now like i said
wen the motor was stock compared to the motor now ,
the issue still consists

oil pressure builds up (perfect pressure)
solenoid gets signal at 6k
but vtec only takes off at 7/7.5
compression is perfect
no knock at all (knock box was used)
no rattles
no cel
so i dont no if spendin more time on the dyno will correct this

I bet the header is causing the resonance dip around 6-7k. Put a standard 4-2-1 header on there and see how the power curve is;) as for power been down everywhere else i'm confident it's to do with cams not been dialled in correctly

i had the car put back to complete stock when it was just bolt ons ran it on neptune and on stock ecu and it ran the same each time so it kinda rules out the header ???or does it???
yeah i will ask about havin them dialed in
how long would this take/cost

Have your cams setup correctly, does not take all day to do.
Manifold/Header can make a dip in power. Change that to check and dial in your cams at the same time. That may expose your issue.

When you say ran the same do you mean lumpy power and dips? or made same power when car was put back stock? and was manifold removed when you reverted back to stock?

degree engine with cams and the dip will go away had similar issue with pro2's on dyno so do ya self the favor and get engine degree and everything else will fall into play perfectly
trust me

wen we noticed the issue we decided to run it with stock ecu rather den the neptune demon ,
with tat done it was near enuf the same graph both times
and same power was made

so we stripped the car back to factory spec
it den proceeded to lose power

since den it will not peak past 170ish

If it was making in around 170bhp when stock it would indicate a healthy engine. Dyno Dynamics rollers correct? Use the same type myself for tuning and have seen EK9's with bolt on's put down 165-175bhp(stock ecu) and as your engine doesn't use any oil I can't see there been a problem with your bottom end.

yes dyno dynamics

the car currently has the header on fully built head etc and still will not peak past 170ish
with neptune obviously
so what dis restriction is , is my issue ...
compression fine
oil pressure fine
leak down test fine
its not blowing smoke

it just falls flat upon 6k
and comes to life at 7/7.5k

As I have said already numerous times those cams need to be dialled in. Just mapped a stock internal b18c with skunk2 tuner cams yesterday car came in with cam gears at zero so I tuned it with cam gears set like that and no way did the engine want high cam till close to 7k, tried it at 6k and a big nasty dip till 7(sounds familiar doesn't it!) so I started to play with the cam gears and eventually picked up enough midrange torque when I could engage vtec at 5700 and no dip in power.

If you want it sorted get in touch as it seems your hitting a block wall with your current tuner and there's no more I can do to help you online.
