Uprated grooved Disc's (Don't have to be JDM!)

Would the fitment be the same for a DC2 with the 282mm disc & standard wheels??

What brake pads would these calipers need??

EXACTLY the same,,

would need brembo 4 pot porsche / leon cupra R style pads like the ones we had on your mk2 16v i think reading through teh lines, they do hawk pads on teh website,, i am sure jokeshopbeard will report back his findings

So you could run a standard sized disc (such as AP dixcell FCR) with these calipers using suitable style pads (Hawk/Ferodo or similar).....mmmm

Would be a good setup if the brakes on the Golf were anything to go by:nice:

I look forward to seeing this thread progress.....

yeah taht woudl be teh ideal way to work it, woudl keep it nice and cheap :nice:

Rite guy's Compbrakes got back it touch with me today!

They have had a look over the part's that i left with them (stub axle, disc & stock OEM wheel) & this is there suggestion for the best setup for fitting behind the stock wheel!

Caliper's
Comp B4 Pro Race 3

Cutom EK9 carriers for the caliper's

Rotors
Powervane Racing Rotors

Custom fitting EK9 Bell's for the rotors

HAWK Brake Pads
Brake Pads 4

Braided Brake line's
Brake Accessories 6

They quoted £900 inc VAT for this setup!
I though that was a very reasonable price for a full brake setup!!!
Plus they would be willing to do a discount rate for a group buy for us @ EK9.org!

They have sent everything off to the drawing office today so it's just a case of waitin to hear more now!

I am going to ring Them back tomorow & ask if any of there caliper's could be fitted to out stock rotors & a price for that as well!
If anyone would like to know anything else please let me know & i will do my best to get answer's back asap!

Plus could people please let me know what they think of this setup, as i am defo in the market for a full setup like this now!

Are you reading my mind or something! LOL:clap:

I was @ buddyclub uk last week talking to paul & he said he could do me a set of 6 pot stoptek calippers & cant remember the make of the disc's (but apparently one of the best), plus some custom bells to fit & hawk pad's For around £1000 which i thought was very good price considering the price of spoon & such!:nice:

Well that is the setup he use's on there DC5 Time Attack race car so i would say it must be a good setup!

Well just thought i would let you know for future Reference :secret:

The buddyclub DC5 is using our Dixcel FCR Carbon slot disk front with our Dixcel Carbon pad, we are the official sponsor for the Buddyclub DC5 and I am also the test driver for them :)

Here is 10 pages of positive review of Dixcel brake on the DC2 forum -

i would defo be wanting to retain my stock discs have i have invested in Dixcel FCR slot discs :nice:

A price for a Caliper/pad setup to work with standard discs would be great as Olly says...Hopefully this could be a good budget caliper upgrade for use with proven discs such as dixcell FCR

When you add in Bells/rotors to the set up it starts to get a bit pricey...

Would be nice to have either option for sure!:nice:

I will get a price back on this asap guy's!

Cant belive i forgot to ask in the first place!:angry2:

But i do need new rotors & pad's, would you guy's suggest using the setup from compbrakes or just get calipers & use proven discs such as dixcell??

if you need new discs and pads i woudl take compbrakes advice and go all out,,

howver for those of us who already have good discs such as dixel or MU then we woudl like to retain our discs after spenging ££££££££££ on them,,

This is what i was thinking!:nice:

I totally understand that as i would be the same if i had uprated disc's & pad's!:secret:

Well i spoke to Them a few min's ago & they asked what size rotor's are you guy's using? (width) As he is building the kit to use a 24mm thick rotor!
If you guy's are using a 24mm thick rotor then these will fit no problem!
He said he will get back to me with a price for this as he wasnt in the office to quote me, but he said It would be the price minus the rotor's & bell's! ( i would guess around £200-£300 off the £900 i was original quoted)
Think you will have to use the hawk pad's as they are a fitting for the caliper!
I will confirm this when i speak to them latter!

Instead of starting a new thread...

What is the best way of checking wear on my discs? Checking to see if it has run down past the outer lip?

Also, heard good things about HAWK pads, who stocks these?

I`ll have a measure up later,,
think they may be about that thickness

What do you mean by- Checking to see if it has run down past the outer lip?

I Usually just run my finger over the disc (from inside to outside edge) & feel how flat the disc is! But i do have a guage for checking disc's properly!
If there is a lip round the outside of your rotor & it is more than 3-4mm deep i would change them! IMO

Compbrakes stock HAWK pad's mate!:secret:

not measured yet but the standard discs are documented at 23mm thick,,
I`ll double check myself this evening

Personally if you are going to spend that sort of money, I would go large on everything, otherwise you may as well just buy the Spoon kit? Larger disc is a must, you can stay fixed to keep the cost down if you want, as its often the bits that mount the bells etc to rotors that can add up on an already expensive kit.
Are you going to get enough for a group buy to bring down your costs - unlikely! So look after number 1.
As for pad choice, its a case of what you need, if the caliper is good the pad doesnt have to be as extreme - for us average people (not racing drivers!). I will start with a DS2500 in my Brembos & see how I get on, I reckon they will be plenty :D
The other main problem could be your alloy choice?
