unbranded coilover kits on ebay

I tend to agree with windymiller & lowjoe here. Just beacuse they dont have a big price tag & are not so called jdm it doesnt mean they are no good. If you dont have £500 plus to spend on a set of coileys and are on a low budget these are ideal, a few folk i know who have got these say they are great for the money & have had no problems with them. If you are just buying them for looks then go for it.

I can't speak for all but I personally am speaking from experience. Quite simply you get what you pay for. Yes I agree I most instance you are paying for a name. Spoon and mugen spring to mind!

utter bullcrap replies people just because it hasnt got a fancy name and arent £500 doesnt mean they are crap. People are on their high horse, no offense intended

they are cheap and will do what you want them to perfectly and will do a lot more if you need them to. There may be a few instances of cheap coilovers leaking but then D2's are common for leaking...? They are a little harsh ride but i can cope with that

Buy them, whats the worst that can happen...in a year you might need a new shock IF one leaks or develops a fault but you can buy another new set for 150quid so i cant see the problem there

I compete in UK-ODC with these exact coilovers on my e36 bmw and they have done 4 wholes days at santa pod without fault, those of you that know what the left side car park at pod is like will know the ridiculous drain holes and bumps are like, all of which i hit regularly at speed sideways putting massive loads through them. Search for my started threads and you'll see the car in question sideways and decked:woot:

hiya yer my friends 1s on his astra have been fine for years i only personaly know of 1 person that baught some and they went wrong evaryone says not to touch them but i dont no wat to do evaryone says diffrent things mybe i should just buy some and fined out for my self like u say i mean wats £150 in life i supose its pot luck . or should i spend 250 and get some spax shocks and springs . cheers

I'll echo everyone else's opinion on here: Do not buy them, you may as well set fire to your money for all the good they'll do you, you say you just want them for looks? Slap a set of half decent lowering springs on the OEM set up.

They are not going to jump out and bite you :secret: i cannot put them through anymore grief than they get on my car and to be honest id expect a suspension arms to snap before they do

I spanked 500 on spax kryptons in the past to find a year later they were no longer adjustable thanks to ceased adjusters, real handy that:angry:

Im really intrigued to know how they can be labelled as **** when most people commenting on them havent even tried them, its all jdm fanboi rubbish - no label oh it must be crap

It's called R&D!

It is, have you done any with these coilovers?

Im not trying to get anyones back up, far from it, just trying to give the OP advice based on hard experience rather than guesswork, ive said my piece hopefully it helps him:nice:

I wouldnt stick any old rubbish in the car for the sake of the looks, your life is more important, not all pricey coilovers are great either, id do some research mate and get a decent set.

They ARE COMPLETE SHITE! i drove my mates car with them and it was bloody awful and rather unsettling TBH, even warned him that they were really bad but he didnt care. and you know what happened then... He wrote the car off because the suspension bounced him off a corner and into a field! STAY AWAY FROM CHEAP CRAP! please if not for my sake but your own well being!

D2's are **** too.

They are a little harsh ride but i can cope with that

Your tolerance of bad suspension does not make them good.

Wow, four whole days! I'm happy when my suspension doesn't break after a year or twos hard use, but four days?

To be fair, I can see how they appeal to you, the chances of damaging the suspension whilst drifting are higher, so the last thing you want to be doing is replacing expensive dampers everytime you have a little off, but people here aren't drifters, they don't expect to have to replace dampers on a regular basis so buying **** like this makes no sense. That's not even taking into account how badly mismatched the damper valving and spring rates must be as that sort of money does not reflect good quality control or R&D.

For that reason, "Aahm oot."

It really isn't JDM "fanboi" rubbish, it's simply common sense, like everything you get what you pay for.

OP clearly states he wants them for looks alone, hence my comment stating lowering springs would be a better choice.

Had those same coilovers on my civic and they were sold on within a month, the ride was terrible, it handled like it was on stock burst shocks

Would recommend saving like £550 and getting some Meister Rs or something, can honestly say you wouldn't regret it man

Ive been in a car with them, and driven a car with them, And they are deadly Its like driving a bouncy ball with a engine.

D2's are **** too.

Four days of abuse (and still fine) the likes of which most peoples cars never see, i cant comment on your use as i dont know what you do in your car:nice::nice: I put the car where i want precisely even while hitting some pretty severe bumps, i drive it as a road car too and even loaded with 10 wheels, tools, jacks and axle stands it doesnt bottom out or become unsettled imho. I bought them because i was building a trampy drift car that was fun and i didnt need to spend silly money on coilovers to do so, its ended up becoming a car i compete in and i still wouldnt change them

The main reason most people have coilovers is to slam their car so low that it handles like crap anyway, correct?

If people are being enough of a tool to "bounce" off the road then look for excuses like "crap un researched coilovers made me run out of skill" its their own fault. They'll end up in the same situation running their car so low they have little to no suspension travel with buddy club coilovers that impress their mates and depress their bank balance, they may as well cut their springs and blag it!

If they are so bad then whats the deal with the tuv approval. The poor german guy that bought my crx with meisters on had to remove them and buy a "crap" set of coilovers so that it met their road safety standards. My meisters were ok for the road, look nice but were too soft for hard track use

I'm done with this thread i might as well.......

I say do buy them , after all you only learn from your own mistakes and experiences in life

You drive a BMW! I don't think your opinion is valid here and i think the advice your giving is shocking! :angry2:

D2's are **** too.

They used to be! I've been using them for 3years now with no issues and i have actually up the spring rates and regularly visit the Ring and have done track days too. Still there is much better and at the time they suited my budget. Would i buy them again... No! My choice of coilovers would be BC's for this money.

My upgrade for future probably KW. Nothing JDM about that....... Nothing to do with the NAME purely the quality and R&D.

I say do buy them , after all you only learn from your own mistakes and experiences in life

Agree! Buy them and learn from your mistakes. Could be fatal but learn from it when your looking down on us all from Heaven. :blabla:

Why don't you try the raceland coilovers they are the same price and quiet reasonable for road use
