turbocharging an ek9 with b18..

Good luck in your build, i actually just installed an unsprung clutch, honestly its no different than a sprung clutch, as long as the pp isen't too stiff a solid disc is the way to go imo, much lighter, faster shifts etc... here is a photo of what i got, it was custom built to my request:

It does make noise for some reason though :(

thanks bud, i went for an act 6 puck sprung heavy duty in the end which is supposed to be good for 407ftlb..

started build today, bottom end is now complete, just gotta give it a lick of paint (the fun bit  ) and drop the moroso sump on, and fit arp head studs

best thing to do is c4 or c1 turbo build with stock internals and 8psi would give good gains, also use the s9b too

long gone are the days of using long gears to compensate for traction issues or for "building" boost.

What you want is the short gears of the 96spec transmission and possibly the 4.266 of the S9B....

Indeed, it makes me crazy when people want an LS tranny for turbo setups, RA what would the 4.266 do for the setup? Would it not slow the car down a bit?

hi guys, just thought id let you know had her mapped a couple of weeks ago, she made 400@the wheels, 467bhp@flywheel and 340ftlb torque. that was at 1.5bar, was running off of the wastegate spring which was a 1bar spring but it was creeping up as the revs went higher and hitting 1.5bar.. didnt want to run that much boost, so i fitted a hks evc5 boost controller and a weaker spring, now running 1.2bar and it was around 385@ the wheels but around the same torque as it was at 1.5bar as we are getting 1.2bar alot lower down now, where as before it was only hitting high boost at the top of the revs..

vtec turbo is awesome, like no other turbo car ive had before :nice:

amazing figures mate, am envious! :)

get some pics up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great news I second the pictures vote! lets see what it looks like.

Where abouts are you based? we should organise a mini meet with all the turbo EK9s and civics, would you be up for that?

No fair!

I would still want to come even though I don't have a turbo :D

You wouldn't have very many numbers anyway, so instead you should do a N/A vs turbo comparison day, Best Motoring style!

:D

Congratulations, Sounds like a beast:drive: If you dont mind can you post up a full spec sheet:nice:

Technically the car would be slowed down but if it's a boost setup, turn up the pressure to overcome that deficiency and turn it into efficiency and take advantage of the higher potential speeds in each gear.

One would "gain traction" from this setup too. Anyone who's had the pleasure of driving a boosted FF Honda would only offer one complaint and that would be traction...this tackles is effectively and well...the rest would have to be taken care of via traction bars, alignment and of course better tires.

couldn't have stated it better. :)

or if you're on a budget like me, use gear dependent boost settings :))
