I have a EK4 civic currently with standard F ARB and Mfactory R ARB an d FK coilover. I'm stiffening everythin up as i'm very unhappy with the handling and body roll and also putting a cage in it.

I plan to fit D2 coilovers as i have herd these are quite stiff and the fall within my budget. Also a ASR 22mm rear ARB with brace and some LCA

On the coilover front they do 4 types the 2 that interest me are the street and track ones. If any1 can shed some light will be great.

While i've got this open has any1 experience in removing Powersteering, ABS and aircon. On the powersteering side of things how heavy will it become??

Thanks in advance

Don't remove them!! the weight is minimal and you will miss it, i removed mine years ago and now i regret it :(

I will be calling uppon your services to have it removed and most probably the ABS i just don't need it. Especially as i am putting bigger brakes on. But i am keeping my powersteering for sure!!!

But i am keeping my powersteering for sure!!!

i've seen at work on a couple of XKR's thats been tuned by racing green a switch on the dash, if pressed it turns the power steering off or partially off depending on customers choice for when they do track days. might be worth doing on ur car when u track prep it?

ive got a set of track cusco coilovers if ur interested

Been there.... done that lol!

My car was a daily drive and installed back my a/c like 3 months later after I removed it, I can't live with no a/c on a car lol, but this all depends on personal taste, if you remove it you'll remove like 30 pounds of the car.

Let's talk about power steering, and raced 1 time without power steering, and believe me my arm where in pain for like 3 days after the race, so I installed it back.

About ABS, stay with them, you'll have advantage over other rivals at the track, you will be able to brake later... in japan they remove abs just for improving driving skills.

About suspension I'll go with the ones that can adjust the dampening force, so you can but it stiffer at the back and less stiffer at the front and also they have to be height adjustable.

Also keep in mind that when you lower a honda, it'll gain some negative camber so depending on how much you lower it you'll need camber kits.

Hope this helps.

Agree with rvm & blinx, not worth removing the above as you wont notice the difference, I hardly ever use my aircon but some days you really need it - leave it on max for the missus eh :naughty: abs removal is only for the real hardcore imo & may save you on the road.
Rainy what Cuscos are they?
Decent coilovers/camber products etc & a set of 15x7 lightweight alloys with an offset to give you a wider track will be more advantagious.

keep the ABS, it's come in handy for me, with the Spoon 4 pots i would have locked the wheels easily on a number of occasions :)

Ok fair do's. Well i'm keeping my 16" wheel as i am putting bigger brakes on and the 300mm discs will only just fit behind my 16"s. I was trying to remove weight by taking the abs, aircon and powersteering out. But it appears to be to much hassle. On the coilover front D2's seem to be within my budget and offer a stiff setup with height and damping adjustability. I have looked at Buddy clubs but they are very expensive and i think maybe to over compicated for a novice. I am building this car as my daily driver with regular trips to the nurburgring. My fks coilvers are **** and very tired. So i'm pretty set on D2's. Just hope they are stiff.

why dont you buy a set of tein mono flex coilovers?
they are great for beginners, and cheap too. which is always a plus.
i recommend staying away from ebay, they are almost always fake.

My mate bought some teins and it didn't take long for them to become soft and lifeless. I want stiffer than what i already have which imo isn't very good. And have herd good things from the D2's. I would like TEINS as i feel there a better company but haven't herd good things.

I have a friend who also had a problem with his TEIN, it didn't last a month.

Hi !

I've been tracking my civic with a b16a since the beginning of the summer
and without power steering, abs. My car is originaly a cx so it never had
them... but came with a/c and currently out or order.

I do have 15 years of track experience/racing and now instructor.

I'm used to race car without power steering, but still on the track the feeling
is much better without unless your are driving a Porsche... But it's bad in
a parking lot for daily driver. So unless your car is weekend car I don't
suggest to remove it. I'm happy my car do not have one, 1 thing less
to leak...

For the a/c, I will eventually fix it, just turn it off on the track.

I've no experience with abs on track, but for the one I had previously
I don't like them...

The best thing to do to start, is get the best suspension you can afford.
Adjustable in damping and height is a must !!!
This is were the fun and the lap time is.

Ride height change without changing the spring compression...

Even if your are a beginner, eventually you will get faster and you will be
looking to change it again.

That is the best advice I got, next get better brakes.
