Track preperation D2, ASR, SKUNK, OMP

Sound good to me. Bigger brakes are also on my agenda. Along with some carbon for more light weight. D2 it is for now then alon with stiffer ARB and bigger discs.

Can any1 give me some help in damping setup for an EK4 weighing in arround 1000kg

Would the suspension set up not be done best by yourself for your own driving style? If it was me i would play about with it until it felt just right for my set-up. As for more carbon bits what you thinking? Bonnet and tailgate? You could also go down the route of lighter seats etc.

You getting the same brake set-up as tom then? MG-ZS discs and prelude calipers wasn't it?

p.s i was right again. I said you would want bigger brakes after going to the ring! Did yours suffer from bad fade then? Would be good to know as i am toying with bigger brakes for mine.

D2 coilovers are known for leaking apprently, would you not be better spending a bit more? I had them on my vti and didnt like them at all, have tein's on my ek9 and they seem alot better, but after checking the price of them id hope they were lol

Damping setup will depend on you m8, how many clicks do the D2's have? For example mine have 5, I have been running them on 1 front & rear...the softest for the road, at Brands today I started on 3 rear, 1 front. Then 5 rear, 3 front as it was dry. In the wet I would leave it soft. All down to personal preference :nice:

Ok so softer on the front and harder on the back... Seems to be a good starting point this is what i ment was a starting point. D2's problems appear to have been solved recently and its particlarly the K2 that suffer with the leaking not so much D2's. I've herd pretty bad things from all companies really. so just depend on my budget.

My brakes where absolutly fine arround the ring no fade and precise everytime. HOWEVER when they get very hot they FEEL **** compared with road driving very very different and quite unnervy the first time. This is normal as i went out in Ross's track prepared VR6 Golf and felt the same feeling through the floor pan. Its kinda like warped disc but its just the rapid wear and friction build up that you feel through the pedal. If this makes sense. Anyway had no fade and used them pretty heavy. On the BIG side i'm going for 300mm front discs and bigger rears with my stock calipers. Purely because i want to pull it up quicker.

My car is around 1000kg and I'm running T1R coilover
with 8kg front and 12kg back. I ran 12kg and 8kg back at the beginning
but i had way too much understeer. Now it's spot on and
I can still play with the damper setting for different track rain or sun.

That setup is hardcore for the road... I really like the performance
on track so I make the sacrifice, but I don't recommend that.

8 and 10 would be better for street/track. Try to get a ride
in different cars so you can get a feeling of what is really hard for
your taste.

Agree with rvm & blinx, not worth removing the above as you wont notice the difference, I hardly ever use my aircon but some days you really need it - leave it on max for the missus eh :naughty: abs removal is only for the real hardcore imo & may save you on the road.
Rainy what Cuscos are they?
Decent coilovers/camber products etc & a set of 15x7 lightweight alloys with an offset to give you a wider track will be more advantagious.

im not really sure what they are

they look like standard units that have been modified by having threaded collars welded on to enable them to take an adjustable platform and coilspring

ijwhiteman: your car weighs 1000kg o_O.. must of stripped alot to get rid of 200+kg
.. anyway, i will be selling a set of d2s in sept if your interested? pm me if interest builds

HMMMM interesting. Currently it weighs in at 1085. I estimate that 85kgs should be pretty easy to lose. mine wieghed 1130 as stock on a local weigh bridge.

How do you feel about the D2's stiff ride?? Do they have any leaks?

The d2's belong to my brother. they are currently still on the jordan atm.
had them since 2007 november time. No leaks, and has a 36 way adjustable dampening.
feels solid.
Do you have a stock ek4 prefacelift? or was it an ek3?

there not standard units they all have cusco on the base of them

EK4 modified!!! Definitly not standard. I'll be interested how much does he want for them

ian get the cusco ones off rainy if they are fully adjustable, damping etc. cost a bomb new!

hi mate, the coilovvers will be sold at around the 300 mark.
There seems to be mistunderstanding regarding the ek4 comment.
i was asking whether it was an ek4 or an ek3/ej9 with b16 lump :nice:
Anyway, i asked as i believe the ek4 weighed around the 1250 kg mark.
Regardless, ill pm you when they are up for sale :)
