Tein Mono flex Ek4/EK9 Review??

Nice Buy!

Did you get the EK4 Monoflex or EK9 Monoflex? Theyre different.Coz EK9 mono is pretty damn hard on softest setting. You can tell the model by the label on the shocks.
I got the Ek4

Basically lowering the spacers = lowering car

I wouldnt suggest you do this yourself if your not competant. You could end up having each corner at different height which upsets corner balance. Best to bring to shop.

You dont adjust it, its supposed to be there as a part of the spring system so that when you lower or raise the height, the spring rate wont get affected. It'l compress when the car is down
well i had this installed at the shop.. but i think the guys dont understand the preload springs, hence they compress the springs to raise the car..
- so the supporting springs on the rear was at max compressed - no play at all.

I dont understand this? What lock nut?
sorry... did know what is called.. i guess you can call it the spacer?
you know how the monoflex has the adjustable spacer on the bottom bit? if you know what i mean :)

The reason that i prefer to do it myself is, i dont want to spend more money if they are going to do the same thing again.. at different place..

also im curious how it this monoflex works -adjusting the right preload springs and lowering/heighten the coils.. in the future it would be beneficial coz you can adjust it anytime diy.

Cheers

That explains why its softer... you wouldnt say its soft if you had the EK9 ver. Infact, it destroys the N1 in terms of stiffness.

You should have received a key that turns the spacers, it looks like a wrench. Only with this you can raise/lower the spacers on the shocks.

An easy way to start is with the front, when you start sliding the spacers down, take note of how many threads your spacer went down. For example, if you brought the spacer down about 10 threads, then do the same all 4 corners. Its a pain in the ass if you dont have some sort of reference.

The number of threads on the front and rears are different so you really need to take note how many threads you went down.

For the Monoflex, you can lower the front all the way and still have about 1 finger distance between the tyres and guard. Then say it went past 15 threads, then do 15 threads lower at the rears. Just keep the dampers at medium or soft for the street, front and rear same.

i c .. just curious.. is the ek4 and ek9 lca, etc the same? or can ek9 fit ek4 coilover?

yep i got the C Spanner to adjust the coil.

the for the info :nice: i guess its kinda complicated.. coz i think that all the coils are not the same measurement and the spring compression is also not the same.. have to start from zero..

thx heaps..

sorry guys for the hijacking :D

No the LCAs are different. But yes you can use the EK9 coilovers on EK4

Basically, the spacer heights for both left and right Front should be same as each other. And the rears the same as each other. Front and Rear will always be different.

If they are not the same, it means some of your suspension components are damage/bent. Usually, most times its these parts;

-Knuckle
-LCA
-Fork

When you bring your car to a wheel alignment centre, they can tell which corner is damaged. Didnt you get a wheel alignment done after install?

You should get a fixed ride height and then wheel alignment. Every time you adjust height, you need wheel alignment. Otherwise your tyres wont wear evenly. Just find the height you want then alignment and dont touch it anymore.

yeach..initially the car had a wheel alignment.. and few weeks later.. there was a new law regarding car lowering.. from 10cm ground up but now must be minimum 15cm from ground to the lowest part of the car..
hence during my service - i ask the my mechanic to raise the coils up - but the people who did my car was not the regular - they did it wrong... by compressing the spring :)

cut story short.. i need to redo my coils and want to do it properly & change my tires to either potenza re11 or advan neova ad08 :p then do the alignment :D

thx heaps!! :nice:

has anyone tried these in a eg? are they too harsh for a daily??

I have them on my 9 and they are the best coilovers I have ever had. I would really rate them. I dont find them to harsh at all.

Seriously, how many opinions do you need? This must be then 15th thread you've bumped or started across the two forums I've seen you on (no doubt there are many more forums I haven't visited), asking the same questions over and over again. :angry2:

OK then persuade your brother to buy mine then :naughty:
