Rob's EK9 Progress

Same mate... To be fair not been on here a lot lately. Struggling for motivation for cars right now...

Oh dear sounds like you got some car woes.

Your not still thinking about selling up?

Shame really after all the time and money that's gone into it. But still if you can't justify keeping it anymore then something's gotta give. :(

Cheers! Just hope they've survived this cold weather!

Just not getting the use, and I don't have the disposable cash to keep going with it anymore. I don't know we'll see... Come August there may be some serious bargains available.

^ shame is great spec!
Although would help me make mine better if you broke it lol

^ lol I've got one I just want some select parts lol

Robbie D awesome work spending the money in the right places really makes a difference but alof of people overlook it. I feel quite guilty now need to tidy up a few things on my nine now your putting us all to shame.

On a Side note.
No IAN! Don't give in you just need to get back to the ring again you know all the financial strigle makes sense then. Soon as you mention breaking the vultures will be all over it. One of my favorite builds has allready gone ill be very sad to see my other favourite go too.

But back on topic guys Robs thread keep up the good work dude :nice: That carbon repair looks great damage before looked pretty bad but hardly see it now. Ive always wanted a carbon base plate OEM plastic goes grey and looks naff.

Thanks for the very kind words Matt! :nice:

Bit of an update, finally!

Seeing as I've had a few spare days between jobs and it seems the weathers been in my favour I got outside and done a few bits to the nine.

Started with a good clean as it had collected tar spots like a teenager collects titty mags!

Out came the clay bar only needed to do the bottom half on the sides and the rear bumper.

This was the state of the passenger door.

Didn't think it was too bad as I have been motoring about a lot over the last few months.

After a clean I set about removing the raised lettering from the rear lights.

It's a haven for collecting wax and mission to remove so out came the wet n dry paper.

This is what I was left with after a few minutes of sanding.

Next was to polish it back to a shine. Grabbed the headlight restoration kit from Halfrauds and the electric drill.

Also had a bit of a gouge on the other light so soon sorted that out as well.

Once they was nice and shiny again gave them a good coat of wax.

Between putting coats of wax back on the nine I started to change the wheels nuts over to some nice new ones. The old ones where peeling and going rusty

I've only put them on the rear so far as I'm not sure that I trust them fully yet, even tho they are steel. Wheels could do with a good re furb next, when funds allow.

All done!

Thanks for reading everyone! :nice:

Looking good, seen on Instagram that you done the tail lights. Would never have the patience for that aha!

By far my favorite thread on the site , because I've the same problem with my arches and I loved how it was fixed .. That panel beater did really go to detail on them :nice:

Didn't take long at all tho, must of spent only about 30 mins sorting both.

Definitely , it looks flawless and what makes it better , you got to see it halfway through so you Know the work that went into it , and no corners cut ..

To be honest I'd be afraid to let a panel beater at my car unless I could see it halfway through

Yeah I would never trust a bloke who wouldn't let me come and see it when I wanted.

Was strange seeing it with no paint on it!

You getting yours sorted soon?

Cheers Ash.

Get it done now and then you got the summer to enjoy it and then get it protected.

Are they very bad? The whole arch or just where it meets the bumper?

Mine isn't bad at all . Previous owner rolled the arches and cracked some paint and the exposed metal slightly corroded and he went over it with touch up pen ..

It's not bad at all , my friends can't even find it :) ha

It's just I'm a perfectionist and I'd rather get it done now than one day it comes through the quarter to say hello :(

Lucky you've spotted it by the sounds of it.

Like most things it's better to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

Nice to hear you'll defo be keeping it mint.

You gonna start a thread?
