Rich777's B16 engine build

Painted the block today. It's not best of jobs in some areas, but it will do as you won't be able to tell when the engine is in the car.

I finished cleaning the block down last night along with filing down a few sharp edges here and there. I'll be cleaning down all the block components tonight and will be moving onto clearance checking from tomorrow.

After I've done all the clearance checking I'm going to strip it down and clean everything thoroughly again. Basically i want everything cleaned, dried, assembled & bagged up in one day instead of over a period of a week or so (this is mainly down to the fact that there is a sand blasting machine in my garage that gets used often). Either way, been extra cautious never hurt anyone. I'm just sooooooo paranoid about anything foreign traveling around in the oil.

End play is within Honda's recommended clearance so i'm OK(ish) about it. I'd be happier if it was a bit tighter. I have a set of OEM thrust washers somewhere so i'll recheck with them.

Main and rod bearing clearances.

The bearing clearances came out around about these figuers when checking with plastigauge (sorry about the gauge paper been a bit off to the side).

Mains:

No.1 - .002
No.2 - .002
No.3 - .0019
No.4 - .0021
No.5 - .002

Rods:

No.1 - .0018
No.2 - .002
No.3 - .002
No.4 - .0019

Again, i'm happy with these clearances as they are on the loose end of the scale. I started to double check the figuers with the Starret Telescoping gauges i have but ran out of time. I managed to get the first main bearing clearance confirmed but when i moved onto the second i was getting .003 for some reason (which i suspect may of been down the the cap not been seated/torqued up correctly). Anyway i'll address this the next time i have a play.

Thanks guys :)

Give me slightly over a month and we should be all good.

Lol, another 144 spam posts and you'll be able to start selling on here...

Awesome build Rich as i have said all the way through. The attention to detail is brilliant :)

Nice build mate....if there is any other spammers let me know. LOTS of people spamming one word responses so they can meet the minimum to sell items on the forums.
