i recently cut my aircon belt and noticed a good improvemtn in power so im going to take the whole lot out to fudge

is this a big job and does anyone know of any threads for instruction etc?

with the prediction that its gonna be a very hot summer you will regret it.:secret:

anybody got any ideas as to how to block off the hole that's gonna be left after the A/C rad comes out?

I was thinking about using some aluminium sheeting - don't wanna use that flimsy piece of plastic that comes on cars without A/C...

open you're windows!!! :secret: ive always done that air con is a power and fuel zapper:shocked:
Open windows use even more power on the highway and probably also way more air drag ;)

its ireland man not california

nothing better than a blistering warm day driving around with the windows down

In the city I usually do that too, but on the high way at 65mph or higher the wind noise starts getting pretty annoying, especially if it blows right into your ears.

And I don't know what weather is like in Ireland, but here in Holland we can have heat waves every year with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees. That on itself is not a problem but the very high humidity is killing. So there you are, driving at 80mph, getting deaf of wind noise, burning up more extra gasoline than with the aircon on, not being abel to hear your music/VTEC sound and it's still hot because of the high humidity. No thanks, I'd rather have aircon ;) But that's Dutch weather. Still, I hate driving with my windows open above 55mph because of the wind noise..

Well when Ireland hits 30degrees I say all the irish will collapse of heat stroke..today was 22'c when we were cutting silage and everyone was in vests roasting..Irish aint able for heat..We used to rain lol...But I have air con in my cars over the last 3 years and never once used it..

lol, I can imagine weather is a bit softer there and even more important: lower humidity. Since spring started I have driven a few times in my parents car cause my own car stands still. And everytime when I was at the motorway and it was warm and sunny outside, I turned on the aircon so I didn't have to get deaf of 80mph wind noise :p

the windows down will not help when your stuck in traffic.

does cuttin the belt itself help power even when its not on?

id say easily over 15 KG

thats just a geuss though

Out of interest, what does all the air conditioning gubbins weigh?

I'll have a definate answer to that next weekend - stripped out all the components in the engine bay this weekend, gonna strip the remaining parts from the cabin this coming weekend.

At first guess though, after feeling how heavy the engine bay parts were, I'd say its gonna be over 15Kg
