removing the AIR CON system

does cuttin the belt itself help power even when its not on?

You will not gain any power by removing the AC! :nono:. When it is not on the ac compressor it just free wheels.
:D
If you are that bothered about saving weight only ever put 1/4 tank of fuel in it, washer bottle nearly empty, remove spare wheel and go to the loo for a No. 1 and 2 before you go out for a spirited drive. :D

Well thats IMO, Dunx

the clutch is not engaged but its still putting strain on the pully

all i know is a cut mine and noticed a nice difference

I didn't notice a difference in power but had to lower my coilovers one or two threads

it does weigh a few kgs. the pump itself is well heavy. pipes weigh almost nothing as they are either rubber or alloy. just make sure you get someone to evacuate the pipes as you dont want any more pollution lol or you could just do it yourself but not recommended. also have to get a smaller belt unless the belt can be removed all together. i cant remember

Do it yourself just in a ventilated area , a rag to prevent frost bite and a screwdriver... just watch out for the E.P.A lol..

The belt doesn't drive anything else so no belt is needed.

anybody got any ideas as to how to block off the hole that's gonna be left after the A/C rad comes out?

I was thinking about using some aluminium sheeting - don't wanna use that flimsy piece of plastic that comes on cars without A/C...

First of all i apologise for reviving an old tread, but i've searched for ages and cant get an answer and this is as close as i've got. Where can i get that flismy piece of plastic that fills the gap where the ac rad used to be. As my engine temps keep droping at normal road speeds and when i want to overtake someone i've no vtec! a part no. or anything! :please:

probably go to a scrap yard and find civics without aircon, just take the plastic sheet from them....or make your own.

Good thing this thread is revived, SOOOOOO anymore review on if removing it makes a difference or not?

well i would say its two steps forward and one step back, as there was definitely a slight difference with improved throttle response and the slightest increase in power. but for me if you drive on a mildy cold evening/night the air getting through the gap lowers the engine temp too much and it wont vtec. very annoying!

The belt snapped on mine and I've felt slightly better throttle response, not sure if there's necessarily any more power though.

i cant see ant belt down there maybe my belt snapped aswell?
can you see the belt from looking down?
