re-registering an ek9 as an ej9?

Yes that's a fair point but at least you'd be insured. If you do what you're planning to do you wouldn't be insured as you'd be committing fraud.

Simple fact of the matter is it's idiots like you doing this sort of **** that's putting prices up for the rest of us!

insurance in northern ireland is a joke

Erm no its not, Northern Ireland is the Highest risk for car theft in the UK and also has the Highest percentage of claims both legitimate and fraudulent.

Maybe if you had enough experience behind the wheel on a car to warrant the right to drive an ek9 you wouldn't be receiving what you think are overly high quotes for cover. An insurance company have to cover themselves and do so based on how much of a risk they are taking on by representing you as a driver of your vehicle.

exactly blitz! insurance prices are on the rise to cover the money lost by insuring idiots like the op

right well, how does one gain experience to drive a car like an ek9 if one cant afford insurance for anything faster than a 1liter?

oh dont get me wrong i rather be legit, i wanted to get 3rd party extension and be able to drive an ek9 but the psni up the 3rd party extension age from 21 to 25. there is no way of winning bar lying or bending the rules ever so slightly.

also i live in a posh area, half a million for a house in my street just incase you thought i was getting quotes for bt13 or the likes.

does no one in england know that most to all glanzas are registered as a 1.3 non turbo?

Alpha, area's mean very little to insurance companies not based in northern ireland, I would try Hughes if i was you. Also I have found Adrian Flux to be pretty good for modified cars over here. They insured his r32 liner very cheaply when he couldn't even get a quote from most of his contacts

Use me as an example, I live In Bt28 and insure my car at £1200. My o/h lives 1/2 a mile up the road in BT17, if i moved to her house my insurance would go to around 3k! we both live in the same style of house (Detached, in a culdesac in mixed area's (mixed religion)

Oh I know, sounds silly but its extra incentive not to crash.

Plus I wouldn't be doing anything silly, as I don't want to be classed as a boy racer!

Also I'm 21 and the police have changed the law recently to 25 from 21 to be able to have 3rd party extension.

Its not silly! It's the most stupid thing I've ever heard of. It's all well and good if you drive extra carefully but what do you do if someone crashes into you? What you are talking about doing is fraud. If anything does happen your insurance is void. You have a claim on your insurance already and now you are trying to cheat the system. You honestly don't deserve to drive an Ek9 with your attitude. Most of the lads on this forum that drive Ek9s are enthusiasts and accept the fact that their insurance is going to be a bit expensive for these cars. If you can't afford the insurance then you can't afford the car. It's people like you that mess up everything for the rest of us and we end up paying the cost. Go buy yourself a 1.4 Civic and gain some Ncb and when you can actually afford to insure an Ek9 then do so.

I have no problem paying my insurance even though it is a little bit expensive. That's the price we all have to pay to drive an Ek9.

yes thats what im saying, i live in a "posh" area where insurance should be cheap.

£5.5k insurance is not cheap. anything over £2k is not cheap.

im with hughes atm, ej9 costs £2500 in feb now its only £1500 why?

anyway, itll probably be cheaper to completely convert an ej9 into an ek9 and keep it as a 1.4 in the logbook.

Everyone starts some were and most people started on a 1.0litre what's the rush don't be stupid do things proply if you carnt afford one why buy one?

again to re-register it it will probs have to be checked over and they will see thats it not a 1.4 and plus with new m.o.t checks it will probs not pass...bad idea i live in ni and am paying 1600 for a 1.5 civic and am 21 3 full years driving behind me...when i questioned the insurence co the response i got was if you want to drive a civic then pay the costs..

Your an ACTUAL moron.

Like dank said
You have to start low and work your way up. If you've already claim at your ages your clearly not a competitant driver, and if you were to get an ek9 you'd only have to claim again and probably be left with a written off car.

Seriously keep quiet about insurance and carry on insuring your ej9 till your wiser, matured and can actually afford it legally.

This begs the question... WHY NOT BUY AN EJ9 ....

TBH it will cheaper to buy an EJ9 and insure it, as in actual fact the EK9 with a 1.4 engine is still classed as a car that has had an engine swap..

That is NO better. You either wait until you can afford to insure one properly, or pay what is being asked if you need to have one that badly. No-one else here expects to be able to jump into straight into fast cars with no experience and a claims history, why should you be any different?

age 21: about £11k

I couldn't believe when i saw this that you were 21.. i honestly thought you were a 16 year old... LMAO.. it gets better.. :lock: this thread its pointless and talking about illegal activity can't be good for the forum....

I'm 27 years old, 6 years Ncb, car parked in my drive and I pay €990 fully comp. Thats a little bit expensive. I don't moan about it though. I just pay it because I want to drive an Ek9. If you were a genuine enthusiast you wouldn't even consider posting something like this on the forum. Look at all the genuine lads that have been members and Ek9 owners for years. I have never seen any of them post up anything as stupid as this.

You can't BEAT insurance. It's there for a reason; sure the prices maybe high but as people said above..start with a 1.0 corsa like the rest of us have done, build up NCB and experiance..why run before you can walk?

Also you would be easier buying an EJ9. If VOSA catch on and inspect you..your well and truly ****ed along with anybody you hit/if.

for your own sake, keep insuring the ej9. you'll have piece of mind knowing that your covered and not driving illegally.
start from the bottom and work your way up.
best of luck mate:nice:

as said by M.1 insurance is there for a reason even if its frustrating at times.

Don't play with the insurance companies. You'll regret it later, if something happens. Better safe than sorry tbh

How can insurance in UK be that expensive? :O I'm 20 and pay 9000 DKK (ca. £1050) for my EK9, with nearly 2 years experience.
