Hi all,

Basically the local motorsport company who arranges airfield days and track days have been forced to stop. The local council recieved a complaint and so all the proper car enthusiasts who want to drive properly and safely now dont have as many oppotunities to do so.

Here is Rich's, from Launch Motorsport, post about the council shutting it down.

"Hi there,

Bad news i'm afraid,It would seem that the persistent moaning of some of the residents at Kemble has now had an effect on all track days for the foreseeable future.Last week the council put an enforcement notice on Kemble to stop all track days until further notice. This means that i have no choice other than to cancel the planned days(Nov/Dec).

Sorry if this has caused you problems but this one is out of my hands,I've been in touch with Colerne and Hullavington to try and arrange alternative days and should get a response in a few days.I've asked for a list of list of venues which he will provide.

The search of a new venue may take a while and could mean that Launch as an events company may not operate until we can find something both suitable and local(ish),And event if we do find something there will be changes,Such as price, rules ,noise regs all the usual stuff you have to do on a track.

Kemble are going to fight this one and i'm pretty sure that when they can operate again i will be given the heads up,But again when they open there will be a whole new set of regs and rules to adhere to.

This was going to happen sooner or later so it's just a matter of process and being patient,I would like to thank you for your support and attendance over the past year and will keep you informed of any changes.

cheers

Rich and the LMS team

p.s don't suppose you know any one who wants buy some cones"

So in response Launch are organising a meet/cruise/gathering and drive round to show the council that we need a place for enthusiasts and car nuts like ourselves to go. Everyone is welcome to show support so we can get it sorted.

Also we are trying to benefit car clubs and owners around the country and prevent this happening near you. So Rich started a pettition with the Government to get more private and MOD sites running days to get us driving properly and to the speeds are cars can do safetly.

So :please: sign the pettition and feel free to pass it on.
Heres what Rich has posted on our clubs forum

"I've set up an online petition to try and get local councils to allow us more access to Private or MOD airfields. Please take the time to go onto the link and add your name, then pass it on and spread the word as far as possible..thanks"

Petition to: We would like to get local councils to allow drivers to use private or M.O.D airfields more by reducing noise restrictions. | Number10.gov.uk

Good initiative :) We only have 2 serious tracks here, of which one is only opened for regular cars a few days a year :(

have any of you boys actually done the launch events?

they're quite fun, if a little busy.

kemble is also quite fun, it's rediculous about the noise etc as it's a bloody airfield. we were all drowned out last time by the sound of a deltawing jump jet hovering above us, being awesome. so the sound of some cars shouldnt have anything to do with it.

Yeah they have solved the waiting times almost now.

Was about to take my old car round before it was sold and that was the day we had to stop and this all started :(

Need a new car so I dont just take pictures and passenger rides

the MSE events are probably better if you want as much track time as possible, on an actual circuit (albeit, still an airfield), however the launch stuff is more social, as in there's mostly jap stuff and it seems to be much more friendly, more enthusiasts etc (MSE has some serious stuff there, very little of it is jap stuff).

Not been to MSE events. The Launch events were being worked on, so its now much better as they have had feedback and changed the circuit round.

There are a fair few jap cars at the events, but they are open to anyone which is part of the appeal.

Signed. I doubt Gordon will actually look at it, Or maybe he'll see it as something he has yet to heavily tax.

Stuff it, the next person in charge can make it happen. Gordon wont be in much longer imo.

FFS not another one. :angry2:

I can see where this is going to go... people will take it back to the streets, and I will be the first.

signed. even though ive never done a track day
but does the ring count? lol
