Hi guys,

I am thinking of painting my standard EK9 Calipers FRONT and REAR HAMMERITE Gold, what process would i have to do as a whole, e.g just paint them or sand them down etc?

Another thing it may sound dumb but would it be possible to paint the calipers without removing the calipers? as im not too familiar on how to remove front and rear calipers, please advise ;) :nice:

I normally wire brush the calipers and hubs of the brake discs. Then wash them with warm soapy water let dry and paint carefully where desired. No need to take them off just make sure you have a couple of brushes one small one med like 15mm and 25mm brushe head...

No biggy mate easy job.

clean them down with brake cleaner rags and wire brush.you can paint them on the car easy just seperate the caliper from the carrier(2 bolts) and paint away

Did mine with silver Hammerite, cleaned them up, then painted them, they came out looking lovely :nice:

I did mine recently!

I used some Brake cleaner and an old rag.
Let it all dry.
Small brush + Hammerite Smooth Gold.

damn they look awesome! nice dc2 bon! please post more photos (in the integra type r forum) of your dc2 since I think I'll buy a 97 one and paint it black!

:thanks:

that teg is so coooool !!!:)

you havent to put them apart they can be painted as they are on the car
remove your wheel clean them a little and just paint them with a brush !
almost only the one side can be seen so it is not nessesary to paint the hole caliper i did mine like this and they are ok :)

Best to remove them and clean them down properly with brake cleaner with metal brush and then high temp primer then paint. Do it right first time and it won't peal off.

Problem is you'll need to bleed the brakes after that

It wont all peal off. But end up looking like an amature job.

My bro recently did his on his FN2, he didnt do a 100% job, ended up looking good from afar, but not so good up close.

Who knows, maybe the paint your using might be better...

I always go by doing things right the first time, coz you'll end up spending triple hours re-doing it again. Bah... who cares, your choice...

Mine, not far off the OE colour. I think it was gold and black hammerite mixed. Silver never looks good in my experience.

I Cleaned mine with a wire brush recently and painted the hammerite straight on

Brake calipers dont generally get hot enough to warrant high temp primer

Plus you can paint hammerite straight to Rust if you really want so its mega good ****
