Other Civic forums

Cheers, just registered on these 2. What's the deal with Honda website's like this and civiclife needing 250 posts to be able to sell things?

for probably the most knowledge in honda's go to honda-tech.com loads of info on there.

I'm looking to sell parts rather than knowledge, will check it out though. Thanks.

I'll cross civiclife.net off my list. I can't believe the attitude towards me on there. I asked if I could donate towards the site to be able to sell stuff. I've received nothing but abuse. Is it full of chav's on there or something?

That's how many other forums I'm a member of work, you buy a membership for a year and can sell on the forum.

TBH thats the response you will get on most sites. if you want to sell stuff go on gumtree, ebay, donedeal etc. If you want knowledge and help with your car join a forum... :thanks:

Im sorry mate but what else did you expect?? A fourm is run on trust, and you need a certain amount of trust to buy or sell something to someone, you have to earn your reputation and trust, and be part of the community, you cant expect to be able to just buy that, it has to be earned.

And it's a bit childish to just throw a tantrum and call us all chavs just because you didn't get what you wanted.

It must be Honda thing. If I want to sell something on Passionford I can buy a membership, if I want to sell something on IMOC I can buy a membership, if I want to sell something on SXOC I can buy a membership.

The suggestion of that had them spitting feathers.

I'm going to carry on posting here to get 250 posts but to be honest, by the time i've got enough i'll have probably sold everything anyway.

I do seriously feel this 250 post thing makes EK9 ownership more difficult than it needs to be. My car is a bag of spanners so I needed lots of parts for it, there isn't many parts advertised around (ebay, gumtree, etc) and because of this it's been hard for me to sort out my issues. I couldn't post wanted ads and now I can't post for sale adverts.

For me, one of the most important parts of owners club forums is to be able to buy and sell. The 250 post rule limits this somewhat. It's a shame as for me it's directly effected the ownership of my car.

It's not like a Ford Focus where I can get parts from the scrap yard easily.

you can still view the for sale section

Yes, you can view it but the flow of ads isn't very high due to the fact lots of forum members aren't able to post adverts.

For example I have been patiently waiting for an EK9 ECU, OBD1 to turn up, nothing on here, I couldn't put a wanted ad up (at the time) and nothing on gumtree/ebay.

My car has failed on the emissions and i'm stuck now and going to scrap it because i've had enough.

I know forums need to take measures to try and protect their users but I personally feel the 250 posts is over kill. There are lots of forum members who read rather than post. On some websites like Pistonheads, i've been a member for years, read it daily but have about 5 posts.

It doesn't benefit the community or make me any more trust worthy if I put "lol" and "nice" after loads of posts to get my count up.

But you still don't get the point, if you was a proper Honda owner then you could easily get 250 post, fourms are about owning the car, using the car and trading info, you only want to sell things, and your getting pissy because you can't buy your way in for £20. I don't have a very big post count here, but I visit the site nearly every day and I am an avid poster on civiclife, the rules are there to prevent scammers, and the rule works, on those paysites you talk of, they are still full of scam artists as £20 is a small price to pay for hundreds, and the more you go on about it and detest the idea, the more suspicious you begin to look.

Jay, I am a proper Honda owner, I have an EK9 on my drive.

I don't really care about the civiclife forum, you can go back there now if you like rather than chase me about trying to get your post count up.

This website on the other hand is very good and has been massively helpful for me

Your deluded mate, if you think your a real honda enthusiast because you have one on my drive, ive got a couple of rolls of bog roll in my bathroom does that make me a toilet paper enthusiast??

And yes as said civiclife is my forum of choice and it will continue to be however as you have stated this is also a very good site and source of info, however for you to slate civiclife because they banned you is totally out of order, as you cannot comment on how good the side is as your first post on there was you botching about not being able to sell/break your ek9.

Your quite touchy about civiclife. Its probably the ideal place for me to sell parts as I assume it's full of young guys with base model civic's wanting to upgrade to EK9 parts. The thing is, I'm not going to make 250 posts on there in order to sell. I offered money towards the site and was treated like I'd said something outrageous. The website has a donation counter with the amount they need every month. That's practically a begging bowl, I didn't think offering money was such a bad thing.

You don't need to defend the place, I don't care within 10 seconds of my 1st post I realised it's full of aggressive "enthusiasts" and over active moderators. I don't want to be a part of that site.

You can go now, like you said, it's your forum of choice....

For sale section on forums is for trusted people to buy/sell things to others within the forums community. Before advertising it to the public as such.

If your just joining a load of forums to sell your crap then no wonder you got banned that's what ebay is for!!!!.. Use the forum to gain knowledge an maybe give your input here and there if you think you can help. But don't bother trying to rush up your post count by pointlessly posting the mods will rectify it an delete your post count. Plus it really annoys regular members.

OP I do understand your point, there's no need for them to get shitty about it, a simple 'That's not how we run things here' would usually suffice but they do tend to get a bit aggressive.

As stated, the rules are there to protect members. Yes, it sucks for you, but you can't expect us to make exceptions.

FWIW posting a load of one word replies to threads in quick succession is obvious and marks you out as exactly what you are, and you will get a warning about that here too. Hopefully slightly more diplomatically than on Civiclife though... :D

But you clearly still dont get it, you cant just buy priviledges that other members have worked hard to gain, your just being moronic because someone told you you couldn't do what you wanted, and don't keep telling me to go, because the more you do the more I'll come back at you, I have just as much right to be here as you!

Admin, you should lock ths now!

Escy the reason you were met with animosity was because you started a thread asking if you could sell on civiclife, to which you were politely told no

You then decided to start another thread 5 mins later moaning about the rules and staff, at which point you were told where to go

If you cant understand the word no, then thats your problem, not ours. We give everybody the same chance, some people can listen to rules, some dont, those who dont end up leaving
