i think 250 is fair, as there are a lot of scammers on forums and they dont care who they scam

Tbh it doesn't matter what the post count is; if someone is determined enough you will still get scammed. But any little deterrent is better than none.

With this measure + manually aproving vendors.

We reduced the scams almost on a 100% :)

That's very impressive! I wasn't saying the site is full of scammers, simply stating they'll still be around unfortunately :)

"Your not far away from 250 now thanks to this thread"

x2 i think that was the intention.

Does the potential of a scam still hold water these days? I assume any right minded person will use paypal and their protection is heavily weighted towards to buyer.

I also think the way you guys keep banging the drum it must be rife in the Honda community, if that's the case, probably a reflection on the typical owners.

I recently bought a Alfa GTV V6, was asking about on AlfaOwner where to buy the timing tools to do the cambelt. I had a guy offer me to lend his tools. Sent me £300+ tools through the post, didn't want payment, didn't ask for a deposit. He was happy to help a fellow Alfa enthusiast out. I'm not well known on there or have a huge post count, neither did the guy who sent me the tools.

With the 'scam' mentality on here I guess nice things like that don't happen too much?

Not being able to buy and sell parts easily was a serious hurdle for me when owning quite a rare car like the EK9. I needed 60(?) posts before I could ask for parts.

Why would you not be right minded if you don't use PayPal? You're every bit as likely to be screwed over using that service.

What do you mean ''not being able'', there are loads of other places where you can buy/sell stuff. This forum has never been about selling/buying. I helped a few folk out with parts and bits and pieces, I even gave things away for free, but I also don't appreciate when people come here just to sell stuff. Yes, there are scammers out there, it is just a sad reality. I appreciate there will always be straight honest people who will get affected by this rule, I can remember the rule changing from 100 posts to 250 just before I reached 100, I wasn't happy then but I can totally see why that is a good thing now. Just stick around for a little longer, you are almost there anyway...

You can claim a refund via Paypal and it's stacked in the buyers favour so you always get a refund.

how boring is this thread...really
opinions are opinions and nothing more
if everyone had the same ones, the world would be a boring place
whatever your views are on the rules of the forum (or any other forum for that matter) they are not gonna change
so deal with it
also, i doubt anyone on here would buy off you now anyway...especially after you've pissed off some valued members of the forum (not a dig at you) just my OPINION after reading the whole thread.

Someone posted on it after a month and brought it to the top.

For your information, I sold plenty of parts on here anyway. (shock horror, I didn't even scam anyone, despite not having 250 posts). Thanks for your opinion though.

I've not got much left to go now and not really bothered any more.

I think if there is an issue with scamming it's a sad reflection on this site and the Honda community as a whole. I've not really encountered restrictions like this on any other (non Honda) forums.

Been reading this thread whenever it has popped up so here's wit.. You sold some stuff on here and not scammed anyone. Cool, we may "trust" you. Not the point though.. Rules are Rules, end of.

you are 10 years old and want to drive a car on a public road but not allowed to. why? because by law you are underage

you want to sell stuff here but not allowed to because you only have 177+ posts. why? because rules require 250 posts.

^^^ shite example but still.

Pointless thread

Ps CivicLife is pish.

You are aware that some people don't wish to buy, don't you? As you said its stacked firmly in the buyers favour so it's quite common these days for sellers to lose out.

I don't get you with the "some people don't wish to buy"...?

I didn't mean for this thread to end up like this, I wanted to know about other forums where I could sell parts. it turned to trash when everyone on chavhonda came on here.

I mean; some people are not buying a product, only selling? As you said, the odds are stacked against them in the event of a scammer.
