onto engine number 3..........

Pauls k20 DC2 with the mu brakes? Baird had a set to fit to Andy's ek9 today and same issues as me, rubbish

kinda need to sort out shafts ASAP, so got a set of the entry DSS ones arriving tomorrow - used to run these on the B series and they were flawless for about 25k of hard use with a plate diff :nice:

if i have any issues with them then i will make myself up some oem ones :)

yeah thats the one but might just have been mani and rad as said. wuft adodyf bought these too, thats grim.

i think haitch maybe used to have the entry dss shafts?

RobbyP on here ran DSS 2.9 shafts for 1 race on his k20 dc2, he encountered problems with them... Hes now running oem mixed shafts.

Lovin the build top work!

Shame about the shafts
Both me and chi run DSS stage 2.9 's
Can't wait tk see what power this makes

the thing about kswap shafts is the length of them mostly

japshop agreed that i can offer up the new shafts in comparison to the tegiwa ones and if i'm not happy with the sizing etc i can send them back for a refund

they have had no issues with anyone who has bought these shafts so far :nice:

cheers Alan :)

typical about shafts,as said robbyp had issues the bearings in the cv joint ate themselves into bits but hopefully it was just a one off

This has come on well quick! Top work man :)

Not really surprised about the shafts tbh, my DSS ones both died. I've got another set to go on that where on the car when it came over, think they're OE ones. If they dont work I'm just gunna take it to r motion and get an OE combo that properly fits, 9/10 swap shafts seem to be the wrong length!

just fitted the DSS ones tonight and they are the PERFECT length for the car

been out for a drive and it is fully awesome, even on a base map it is quicker than the B18 ever was (one blast up through vtec)

delighted, roll on mapping :D

Haha your one of the 1/10 then! Bet your well chuffed you can drive it now.

Looking forward to see how it does with the map tweak.

Nearly there then, K-Tuned shifter looks the business installed :D. I have run the DSS 2.9 from the start, they did look like they were not all the way in but they are, still going strong anyway.

yup pretty much there! Just a few grommets to pick up from honda to plug up some redundant holes on the firewall then tuning on friday

few photos of the last of the work.......

all the dc2 arms painted up, lower arms rebushed with hardrace items

DSS shaft on the left, tegiwa on the right. shows just how short the tegiwa one is

ran the box on MTF3 to bed the diff in, then swapped out to some "proper" fluid

removed and refitted the 3-point strut bar so the vacuum line and fuel hoses sit over the top, if they run on the underside it's a bit close to the valve cover for my liking

bonnet trimmed to clear the vacuum take off from the inlet manifold for the brake booster

interior wiring tidied a bit and the ECU mounted

done about 100ish miles on the car now, couple runs up through vtec and it's great. bit of data logging on the kpro reveals everything is running OK, closed loop is working fine and switching to open loop under load just as expected etc. i wired in the o2 through the secondary o2 wiring and configured the kpro to run closed loop control off it when i initially set up the ecu :)

only 7 weeks until i leave for the nurburgring :blinx:

Awesome Steve, Your well on the road now. Will be interesting to hear what sort of figures it makes with similar mods to mine. Also DSS sent me two new inner cv joints to use, not sure if maybe i went past the angle these were meant to work at as when im up over the kerb on the track the opposite side is copressed up in and wondering if thats what hurt them, also my car was a bit lower than i would have liked but guess will see. im gonna try a standard set of mixed ones at the mo, Got an EP3 lh shaft with B18 outer and getting a DC5 RH shaft as the EP3 one was a bit short and the DC5 is slightly longer.

Good to know about the shafts!! I didnt think there would be as many varied sizes as there are! I like what you did with the secondary 02 and running the closed loop control off the kpro. Will probablly be the answer to one of my problems when I get to that stage. lol.

Keep up the great work and keep posting your thoughts and ideas here.

Mapping tomorrow :woot:
