new exhaust law in ireland????

i had my car in for its nct today (failed on emisions but not by too much considering it has no cat or lambda sensor lol) and the man doing the test told me that as of april 1st there will be a new law banning my exhaust? he didnt specify why but i was just wondering does anyone know what law this is?

my car has a spoon straight through exhaust...
 
oh kool because am worying about it now but am in London so not sure (i wanted to get a spoon exhaust but i want to see if the exhaust is the same as what i want) but i think the guy was just lieing to you:(
 
Yeah heard there is some new ban coming into effect on noisy exhaust's. I'm fcuked when it does as I have a straight thru 3.5" from turbo back and it is anything but quite

damn :angry2: my car seems excessively loud when in vtec (love it :woot:)
but ive been stopped twice for noise already so if there is a new law then im rightly done for :nerv:

oh, nope im not on the forums that long, the profile pic is my car but i took it on my phone about a year ago, guess i really should get a couple of pics up really.

its a 96 ek4 only mods are k&n cold air induction kit, 4-2-1 manifold, spoon exhaust, decat, headlights (not sure of the make but i like them), 17" rotas, type r front and rear lip, type r spoiler and recaros.

i really wanted a 9 but insurance is ridiculous so went for a vti that looks like a 9 :lol:
 
you should have it tested by the 1st if they have given you your retest date.
cant see the plod giving you too much hassle if you have the years test fresh on the car.

yeah il have it tested by then but i was just worried about gards, hope not anyway but they can be d*** heads sometimes, the first time i was stopped the gard kept on about the noise (got me to rev it up aswel) and then checked the tyres, gave out about the visor and held me up about half an hour :mad:.
 
you should get hks exhaust,they are quiet when is under 5000 rev and i have no problem with the gardas about my hks exhaust. but when in vtec they are real loud, so just becareful
 
Pop a borrowed standard system to pass the test, then jack it up outside the test centre, bolt on noisy one and drive off flipping them the bird.

Tis the only way IMO, if they start forcing this stuff on us we have to ignore it otherwise they'll eventually ban aftermarket tuning altogether.
 
i heard this law coming as well, they get onto us about number plates, tints on windows now this, whats next?? i also heard they mite be bringing a law in about the height cars are of the road but i can't see it stickin, the way there going it won't be long till we have to leave the cars standard:(:(
 
Ya a few of us go a summons already about the exhaust from a prick of a guard . went to court and told the judge the car came that way he just said to sort it out with the guard and ajourned it for another month.
 
typical, just because you drive a civic they seem to think they have to summons you everytime they see ya, they a real torcher hi at the min

we should be ok ireland isnt part of the uk :nice: not good news for our friends in the republic tho :(
