My Thunder Grey EJ9 !!! :D

just fabbed up my induction kit from :
1 metre alluminium pipe 63mm od
90 degree silicone bend 63mm id (BLACK)
45 gedree silicone bend 63mm id (BLACK)
Mushroom foam air filter (RED)

I drilled a hole in the 90 degree silicone bend for the air flow sensor, fits nice and snug actually. pretty impressed with the overall finish. Ill get some pictures up tomorrow as its gone dark now.
total cost = £45.00 HAPPY DAYS

Well they're not to everyones taste ill admit. But I kinda like the bottle cap types atm. Something abit different.
Seen loads of civics from america with bmw bottlecaps on.

It sounds alot better now, especially under 'spirited' driving shall we say....
4k+ sounds lovely.

well it went from this little bundle & a metre of ally pipe :

what are your thoughts guys?

^ as above lol..

Glad to see you getting stuck in on this. Maybe fabricate a nice little box for that filter to be enclosed into. lowering the chances of heat soak :) looks cool also, ad always fun to fab stuff your self ;)

yeh i might look into sectioning that area off from the engine with some ally sheet maybe. was also thinking of using a hole saw to drill through the chasis behind the headlight to get a proper air feed from the front bumper straight to the filter.

oh the possibilities....

i got the black silicone hoses off a mate for cheap. but im pretty sure the same ones are for sale on ebay for around £15-20.

just make sure you know the diameters you need. ive had to make do with a 70-63mm reducer for my 90 degree bend. does the job fine once the jubilee clip was tightened up though.

this is the location i was thinking of creating a nice hole for an air feed :

would it fail on the MOT for that though?

as jfayboy is saying there should be a hole there allready... ??

i have never looked in the bay of a standard EJ... is there no hole there at all ??

no nothing at all, well a few small holes for certain screws and cable tidies to locate in, but no hole through to the arch liner or anything like that.

hmmm.... best get your drill out then buddy:run: :run: let the real modifying commense :)

thats what i was thinking. my dad bought some metal hole saw blades a few weeks ago. sure he wont mind if i blunt one......

may have to purchase 2 black plastic trumpets( one for a hole in the fornt bumper, one for the hole in the engine bay) and some air ducting then....

hmm yeh, theres no hole that size on the EJ9. looks like i will have to form a hole that size myself :D

put it in the same place, make sure u then protect the metal and paint work do a good job and itll look standard :D

yeh could make it look pretty standard, got some etch primer and the left over thunder grey from my badge-less grill and plate recess ;)

what would you say to an equally sized hole in the front bumper, trumpets and ducting to connect the two?

i know man chavs who have done the same :p just my opinion though, if u utilise a hole thats already there...fair enough but cutting a hole in the bumper looks a bit poo..

my opinion of course.

you will also collect lots of nice stones from the road down there
