Item for sale: 2000 Evo 6
Price: £9000 PX with EK9
Location: Isle of Wight
Condition: Excellent
Description:

A friend has asked me to advertise this here for him as he would like to PX with an EK9. I can imagine this is the kind of car a lot of EK9 owners would be upgrading to!

Year 2000 (W) Evo 6 with 6 speed conversion 375/375

For sale is my evo 6 which was previously owned by rsjohn, steve_barrow and shanes FQ300 - all MLR members so the car is quite well known.

I purchased the car from John in December and it has been faultless since. Only reason it is up for sale is that it is the wifes car and she is about to start commuting a fair bit further so feels that something a little more economical would be better suited.

The spec hasn’t changed since the previous advert, and both rsjohns and steve-barrows for sale threads can be found here:

http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=290090

http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=285906

The car is registered as PLG on the logbook so no excessive road tax bills to worry about. It was imported into the UK from new.

MOT is until March 11th 2011 and Tax is until 31st October 2010

The car has covered 79k miles and the engine just 57k miles. An extract from Steve Barrow’s for sale thread (6 months and 7k miles ago):

“Some of you may have read that I have recently had problems with the car. It was running 500hp with the ND rod job and an S205 turbo. Unfortunately, it dropped 2 valves a few weeks ago, so the engine was no more! I bought a 50k mile very good condition Evo VI engine, and had that fitted by Wayne at Arnside Motorsport. It was then driven off boost to The Racing Line, and mapped for the new spec. At the time of Wayne fitting the new engine, he fitted new belts all round and a Evo IX clutch & flywheel (these are apprarently slightly stronger than previous ones, and can handle a good amount of power).”

The car has not been tracked by either myself or John. Not sure about Steve or Shane.

The car has a pretty impressive spec list and is an absolute pleasure to drive with the Evo 8 MR 6 speed gearbox conversion. I have also been very surprised at the handling of the car on the Tein superstreet coilovers – probably due to having been professionally set up by Wayne at Arnside Motorsport. They are very progressive giving an exceptionally comfortable ride but masses of grip when you need it.

Spec is as follows:

Engine
Full 3 inch exhaust straight with no bends. Comes with 2 bungs if trackdays are your thing.
Evo VIII Intercooler recored with a 500bhp rated core
KTR alloy hardpipe kit
Ross W 3" turbo intake pipe
Battery relocated to boot
K&N cone filter
Hardwired Walbro 255 fuel pump
Ecutek remap on the standard ECU boosting @ 1.6 bar with mild antilag, mapped by Matt @ The Racing Line

Transmission
Evo VIII MR rear diff with only 8k miles when fitted (approx 20k ago)
Evo VIII MR 6 speed gearbox with only delivery mileage when fitted (approx 27k ago)
Evo IX clutch & flywheel

Styling
FQ Peformance Red Ralliart mudflaps
FQ Performance Carbon Fibre vortex generator
Clear Side Repeaters

Wheels/Tyres
Rota Grid 18” x 8.5” wheels in white which were the very first set in the UK!
4 Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetrics all with good tread

Suspension
Full Tein Superstreet coilover kit
Fast road 4wd suspension geometry by Wayne @ Arnside Motorsport

Brakes
Evo 9 Stock Brembos calipers
Project MU SCR Pro 2 piece front disks
New standard rear disks
Project MU HC+ front and rear pads
HEL braided brake lines all round
Motul RBF660 fluid

Security
Toad ai606 cat 1 alarm

The car has been mapped and is producing 375/375 so about as much power as you need in what is an exceptionally comfortable, capable and well put together car. And if you want to be noticed, the mild antilag thats mapped into it will certainly achieve that for you.

Service History – from Steve Barrow’s for sale thread (6 months and 7k miles ago):

“The car has currently 73k miles from new. It hasn’t got a FULL service history. Basically it had a fully stamped Ralliart service book when I bought it; but somehow my mother binned it last summer. This can be confirmed by this thread:

http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=223621

I am sure the previous owner could verify that he sold it me with a fully stamped book. Either way, once I realised this had been lost, I rang round all the places I had receipts for, and places I remembered it had been serviced in the book in the hope of regaining these stamps. I have managed to get virtually all receipts for the services at the correct intervals from new. I need to check through my folder at home; but I think I may be missing 3-4 all together. So it has got a virtually full service history;
but in
the form of receipts rather than stamps in a book. I also have a stamped book with all the services ive had done from 50k (when I bought it) until the present day (with the last service being 200 miles ago when the new engine was fitted).”

The car will be supplied with a fresh MOT and a full service for the new owner.

The car was originally up for £10k just over 6 months ago so I feel £9000 is a realistic price for this to sell at, given the spec above. This is not a “or near offer” price.

The only bad points on the car is that there is some paint flaking on the alloys but no kerbing so a refurb would be very straightforward. There is also a front lense missing from the passenger side front foglight and a few stonechips to the front bumper that would be easy to sort. Otherwise, the car is simply faultless.

We are based on the Isle of Wight and I will provide free travel over and back for the purchaser – it takes less than an hour from either Southampton, Portsmouth or Lymington on the car ferry and just 15 minutes if coming over as a foot passenger. Alternatively I am happy to deliver the car to those 3 mainland locations or nearby if you prefer.

Photos will follow in the next 24 hours and I can provide further photos if required – just pm me your email address.

If you would like to chat further about the car I can be contacted on 07717 844767 (Steve).

I hope it goes to a good home as the previous owners have clearly cared for this car thus far.

very nice looking 6! maybe one day i'll own one. glws.

whats it like on the fuel normal driving lol

speed conversion? you mean converted to mph?

Six speed coversion, as in converted from five to six gears.

Mileage is about 25mpg on a run, around 18mpg round town.

evos are terrible on fuel driving around town, they are not bad on the motorway keeping it of boost as much as posible

just driving around town nicely i got 89 miles to £30 fuel earlier this week in mine

if your bothered about fuel usage, its probably best you dont even think about buying one

Still looking for a part-ex on an ek9.

Just powdercoated the wheels and put a brand new pair of Eagle F1 Asymmetrics - total cost well over £500.

Price remains unchanged at 9k and shows how much this car has been cared for.

Next week new wheelnuts and the front bumper is being resprayed to remove stonechips.

Car will then be 100% mint and faultless.

Some more photos:

Well I am very open to part ex for an EK9 for the wife. :))

Today saw the car back from the painters where I have had some detailing done to the air intake and front bumper in black, and removal of stonechips on the front bumper - a very professional job and the car is officially mint.
