Kozy's EK4 in action.

I don't do many track days, the nearest one is 4 hours away including a boat trip across one of the most expensive stretches of water in the world. So far only done one Cadwell trip and three at Brands Hatch in the past 3 years.

Just passed my younger brother in his Supra past Druids here

Being chased by a 200sx for a few laps at the last IOWCC day at Brands Indy. He catches back up at about 6 mins.

Yes, love them on the road, utterly fantastic, however they are a little on the soft side for track and autox work, so at some point I will be looking into getting some track suspension to swap over when needed, possibly a custom valved Koni/Ground Control setup or maybe a second hand set of Ohlins if they come up cheap.

cars looks really well mate after that clean up, i no myself how much work goes into getting a navy car to shine like that, thats probably why mine was never done :D there couldn't be many mark1 escorts vans about like that one at the track anymore

N1 mate, it is a shame we don't have any tracks on the island :(

Never knew u were after a b16b could of had mine 4 cheap :p

Nice pics tho dude, should bring it to the nurburgring :D

Kozy, nice EK4 buddy. I like all the events you participate in and shared photos, thank you.

I read that you are using the ASR brace and 24mm bar in the rear. What are you running up front as far as bar size goes?

15x6.5 wheels, have you thought about going wider? Wider is so much better for track.

Tell me about it, tearing around carparks and Knighton sandpit is the best we get! You should get along and see what goes on, it's a far cry from the 'ring but at least it's close to home, the 1st event of this season on the 24th at the College. :)) What happened to you signing up to Evo in the end? Saw you were a new registered member a while back but not sure if you made it through scrutineering?

I had it fitted just before your accident, otherwise it would have been ideal!

Cheers mate! Got the standard 26mm bar on the front, I calculated that this setup combined with the Spoon springs gives me roughly the same roll stiffness distribution as the standard EK9, maybe a tad looser. I think it handles superbly!

Yes, I did consider going up to 8" and 225 tyres for autotesting, but sprint regulations say I can only go 1" wider than standard so I'm limited to 7". I don't think this will gain me much compared to the cost of four rims, plus the cost of wider 15" tyres is horrible and 195/50s are cheap, which is good because I eat them pretty quickly.

To bad regs. prevent you from enjoying something like what I run...
toyo r888 225/45/15's
949 6U wheels 15x8

outstanding grip...if you ever get the chance I would highly recommend a try. night and day difference.

I bet! They would be ideal for the autotests as there are no regulations in my class, but I can't really afford big selections of wheels and tyres to swap about sadly. Most sprint events also stipulate that R comps are not allowed in RGSP classes so I am limited to list 1a tyres. Having read through what is allowed, I went for the Yokohama AD08s as they seemed to be the best available fitting within the regs.

Maybe in future, if the car goes into the ModProd classes (i.e. stripped, caged, harnesses, fire extingishers all to FIA specs ) then I can start running wide R comps, 4 pot brakes and all other sorts of goodies, but that's a long way off yet!

regardless of the regs and your limitations, you have a great project going on and seems a ton of fun too. I have subscribed and look forward to updates for sure!

[thanks for the bar specs too, 26 front is what I was hoping you would respond with, ACE.]

Thank you again for sharing! :))

Beardy, wouldn't you like your DC5 to be minty fresh for your ring trip? :)

Jenkins? Yes I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, I hear it's pretty well sorted though.

Pfft, Nurburgring again, you flash bastard. I will make it there one day...

Yep yep again :D going with Steve from here.

Off to TGM Friday for FRSU :)

Are the college days setup with evo cars or IOWCC?

All set up by IOWCC, although a fair memberbase of Evocars are competitors and commitee members. Got a few chaps running race and rally cars on there and a large proportion all very keen on trackdays. :nice:

How much my friend? :p

Something like Kozy's, but with more attention to detail to other bits as well (interior, engine bay, wheels, arches etc.) is going to come in at around £120 and I'd need your car early in the morning until mid-evening, but ultimately, it depends what your car is like, and what you're after - I can make it cheaper or more expensive :p

Best bet is to let me see your car and have a chat in person, that way I can inform you of the available options, costs and of course, my recommendation.

Having checked back on the regs for something else today, I see the rules regarding tyre size and brake upgrades appear to have been removed from the 2011 regulations... :D
