WELL...
A mixed bag from last week's meet.
1st Race:
Got in front of my nearest rival and stayed there for the whole race, finishing mid pack and third in class, but the car was overheating badly. Took it in to the pits during lunch time and had a look at coolant levels, which were a bit on the low side, so bled the air out of the coolant system and went out to race again.
2nd Race:
Got stuck behind an 1800 EK9 who couldn't do anything but block, and being a tight circuit I just couldn't carry enough speed through the corners to pass him. Ended up watching my nearest rival disappear into the distance, leaving me beached. Car was over heating again, so took it easy for the last few laps with coolant up my windscreen
Back into the pits I borrowed a leak-down tester and sure enough, blown head gasket. F@%K!!!
3rd Race:
DNS, watched from the pits as nearest (now distant) rival drove to 2nd overall, and 1st in class. Damn.
Got the head off as soon as I got home and sure enough, head gasket wasn't sealing properly once the block was hot. Have already had the head skimmed and have a new gasket ready to go back in, just have to find the time, maybe tomorrow.
Next meet is on the 20th, at the track that is in the vid on the previous page. We are already doing similar times around there (me and rival that is) so will be very interesting to see who comes out on top this time. Better put full slicks on methinks!
