Hi

I'd like to know if anyone feel in dynobutt the difference of 3º one intake pct camshafts or is something only fell on dyno sheet?

Regards

Not personally, but in the realworld you wouldnt notice much at all in terms of comparision.

Im asking this because i whant one set of R camshafts for my b16 engine and i have a guy that sold me new dc2 camshafts (in honda package, never used) for more £40/£50 than ek9 used camshafts usually price

3 degrees is not noticeable. but if i had a choice i`d go with the ek9 ones.

I prefer ek9 but its dificult to find one set on selling in good condition, its one set on ebay but its £400.

For £300 a friend of mine have dc2 set in honda package.

I prefer ek9 for 3 extra degrees but i cant find any set and this new unboxed dc2 camshafts make me thinking :angry2:

Never a truer word spoken DownunderSiR.

I sold a pair of EK9 cams for £150, eBay is always overpriced.

Just to be sure... are they B16B cams ?

Blox cams are not high quality but there are plenty of reliable cams out there... Kelford is one of my favorites right now along with GSC and Tomei.

I think that OEM cams are enough good for some improvement for b18c4 ?

type r cams wont be much of an improvement if not loose power as the b18c4 intake path is so different and the compression ratio is to low to work with the profiles.

Im sure i have seen a graph were sum1 lost out power puting Type R cams into a stock b18c4

some setup
engine:
B18C4
- ITR cams, springs, retainers
- injection 326cc

intake:
- intake manifold Skunk2
- TB RPM Service 69mm
- whale pe*is

exhaust:
- 4-2-1 Toda Style
- 2x straight-through muffler M-tech
- exhaust pipes 60mm

ECU:
- P28 remapped

on this setup after adjusting ecu was 214HP & 189Nm

I know it's not stock B18C4 but I have remapped ecu, skunk2 intake manifold, exhaust system 2,25" with ek9 header (waiting for rmf replica 2,5" header), dc2 intake airbox, so I think that dc2/ek9 cams would give some good improvement ?

But I would like to read your advice if I'm wrong...

What i wrote was from after sein a stock b18c4 back to back dynoed with std and type R cams with map tuning. and the type R cams lost out.

What were you dyno results before the upgrades and tuning??

I dont count many dyno figures results as very accurate. Especialy not individual ones.

Prime example as a mate of mine claims he has 180hp and 130lbft at 7500rpm from a well thrashed tired b16a2 with over 125k miles, all standard intake and exhaust, no upgrades except bolting in a set of type R cams and fiting a un maped Apexi Power FC with a base map for a b18 on. But the dyno said he did, so it must be 100% true.

Im not saying your results are naff as you have all the bolt on's and tunning to go with, but i personaly wouldnt hold any individual dyno figures by my heart to be 100%. Personaly only id only go by back to back graph comparisons to show true gains.

Oh and on topice of the thread which was covered few weeks back (one of many times before) NO the extra 3' duration in the real world would NOT be noticable i would just buy the cheepest best condition second hand ones of either that you can find and if you come across the EK9 or 2000 onward ITR ones then its a bonus.

You would probably see more of performance gain if you removed your spare wheel, tool kit and went for a good sh*t.

that wasn't my modification - it was some mate on forum in Poland
stock engine provides stock dyno results and after setup it was as I wrote - propably checked on same dyno machine...

by the way the car on this set up run the best 1/4 mile in ET: 14.031...
I think that describes some dyno numbers...

So no dyno figures before...... and wasnt even your car was some1 on a forum in poland......no details of tunner or were it was dynoed...

think ill leave that debate as it is lol...

Plus 14.031 1/4mile is not that impressive for a civic with sposed 215hp and 140lbft. My standard, untuned and well used (abused! lol) b16a EG6 SiR (170hp/ 115lbft, if that after 80k) ran best of 14.22 1/4mile and average of 14.4 on street Eagle F1's, so surely something with over 45hp and 25lbft more only gained 0.2s? i dont think so i would expect more from that setup. But hey maybe different for different climats, always thought poland was a cold ish climate would have thought with all the cold oxygen packed air the average 1/4m times would be better? .. but then tyre temp and traction also a factor ... too many variables and now im rambeling and this is nothing to do with this topic :nono:

sorry :drive: lol

rambeling or not...^Ace.:nice:

It could also be traction or lack of. Driver becomes a variable with traction being lost due to wheel spin...maybe??? I'm at 173whp now and already having traction issues...a·hem, i can feel it, hear it and sometimes smell it. lol/ poor lsd, without that lsd life would be so different.
