hi im looking to go down to a height like in the pictures
i wana know if coilovers will work
because i want 2 keep the awesome characteristics of the ek9 but i want it 2 be show and go

bagged cars haddel like ****????
coilovers make very good handling cars and give u freedom 2 drop as u wish???

I doubt it will handle very well tbh. The focus is my mates, and is on coilovers
 
2bh mate its one or the other,you can have it slammed but if your going hellaflush with big et wheels and rolled arches etc it will ruin the cars handling
 
Benefit of air bags is you can raise it up easily if need be. Coilovers can get you that low but say good bye to the exhaust if your not careful.

But yeh. As said its not going to handle like it should with a lot of - camber and stretched tyres etc.

One or the other I'm afraid. Lower and stiffen the car that much and you will ruin the handling.

You can set your ride height, but coilovers does not automatically mean improved handling.
 
I agree.
An ej9 would be a more suitable car for what your after.
 
hehe ok kwel thanx.well i dnt think its worth sacrificing handeling.i dnt mind if it doesnt handel amazingly but i dnt want it handling like **** i think il just put it on coil overs.hehe i agree with u guys this car is a drivers machine that shouldnt be messd about 2 make it look kwel but kill its purpose

I went through the stance phase and was relieved when I went back to oem shocks with eibach springs!

Handling is definitely more rewarding!
 
Are you sure you have an EK9 as in a 1.6 Type R?..

If so, please keep the thing functional :nice:

But yes, coilovers are what you seem to be after,if you add the right geometry correcting items ie. Roll centre adjusters, camber arms etc... and get the car set up it isn't going to necessarily handle badly. But again that depends if your going to fit tyres that are too small for the wheels and so on.

Absolutely. What's the sence of "stancing" a Sports car which is made for driving sporty?
It will suck to handly, you'll destroy a front bumper every two miles, it's uncomfortable and looks really ugly :D

Of course it's everyones own choice and not mine, but i don't see the point. specially when it's up to a rare and sporty car :nono:
 
sorry Kozy.will try to keep in mind my English.social networks have a way of destroying language skills.

Its not a Type R.the type R never came to South Africa.We have the Vtec 1.6, I'm not 100% what the difference between the two are.the engine wasn't very well taken care of by the last owner and it has over 300 000km on it.but i am looking to go with a B18c engine with around 7psi boost,so I don't think I want to put that kinda power down on stretched tyres and air suspension.

I wouldn't go down the stanced route as others mentioned. Function over form in most cases with the coilover height and adjustment. Its pointless putting a B18C turbo in aswell as if its stanced as you will never be able to use it properly.
 
get function&form coilovers or groundcontrol/Koni with extended GC top hats, good luck.
