good tires?

TOYO PROXES T1-R, the best imo, wet or dry:drive:

I went from the potenza to these because a friend of mine swears by them.

They are absolutely immense. Not only are the cheaper, but the grip is fantastic!!! In the wet it is truly unbelieveable, seriously . . . . . you will feel glued to the road, best tyre decision I think I could have made, total convert to the T1-R.

Thank you toyo!!!

toyo 888's will be my next set of tyres,i can get them for £57.00 each.

Having used the T1-R, I don't think its that great. With a 280 wear rating, it gives up some grippyness for street longevity. Also, the tread pattern, while being good for rain dispersion, it has a lot of void (empty of rubber) area on it. The tread blocks were small and thin because it was designed to disperse rain but not so much for dry traction. There was a lot of tread squirm because of this.
Also, the side wall was mushy because it was a tall 195/55/-15 and because the the T1-R uses 1 polyester ply vs. 2 poly. plies found in other tires.
I actually switched to the 205/50-15 Falken azenis RT-615 becauese it was only $76, it has HUGE, not squirming treadblocks, it can be rotated like any asymmetrical tire, a stiff 2 ply poly sidewall, and it was sticky w/ a 200 treadwear rating.

A little comparison picture of a street tire vs. a street/race tire.

i've had re01-r's and to be honest i'm not a big fan the dry handling was good but, the wet handling had alot to be desired, i don't know whether it's the road or the tyres but, i can't have them.

Just got a new set of Toyo Proxes T1-R's and they're sweeeeeeet great dry and wet handling i've been converted too!

Tyres I have tried: Goodyear GSD3 F1-Great in the dry or wet (useless on track tho, too soft). Yokohama Parada spec 2-awsome in the dry, okay in the wet (Best road tyre for the track I found (great on the limit), didnt get to test them in the wet tho). Michelin PE2 Best all round tyre for the road, great wet or dry (Not great on track, too much squeal & didnt wear too well).

Im with Blinx on the track tyres tho, Yoko A048. Toyo 888 2nd choice.

FD2 CTR uses RE070. They look pretty cool too. Looks like semis

As I said jugbugz. The 001's look/sound ace. I reccon I'll go for a set if I can find some of the buggers over here in the uk

So far so good with mine.

AndyH: Toyo T1R can't even compare to Eagle F1. So forget about those budget tyres.

see really this post will end up being a waste of a question
every one uses different tyres and will have a different opinion , if you aint used one then you will favour another

just to add, Using and getting replace tommorrow Bridgestone Re01R. used the toyos and paradas etc... the bridgestones by far the best....

thats true, best is the read comparisons on Mags. Can't wait to see the outcome of Re001

toyo proxes t1-r's ftw :p

I currently have these on my ITR, they are still new but I get wheel churp while shifting from 2nd to 3rd @ 100kmph, that can't be good right? My ITR is stock. Changing these soon...

t1-r is a good tire, but its not an GREAT tire. its good for an every day car that may see some rain.

one of the most important parts of the tyre on an ek9 is a hard side wall
something to bear in mind me thinks :blabla
