sent my ek9 for the nct recently and it failed on emissions! i hav put a standard ctr exhaust and cat on it but it stil failed! its mapped on an apexi power fc....could this be the problem??

God, emissions could be anything!
what condition was the cat you replaced the original one with?
it would be unlucky but dont rule out that being screwed aswell

as far as i know the cat is perfect.....it was used recently for a friend and it passed no problem

More than likely 02 feedback is turned off and its failing on lambda reading. Post nct results and I will confirm.

NCT results

low idle(960 rpm)
CO 0.87 vol %
HC 241 ppm

High idle(3000rpm)
lambda 0.97
CO 1.01 vol %
HC 79ppm

Your just on the limit with lambda reading. CO is way over allowed level. What condition is the cat in?

Im having the same ****ing problem with my emissions. Im running a b16a2 bottom end with dc2 pistons, ek9 head, inlet, fuel rail. Dc2 ecu and throttle body, 2.2 injectors and a decat. My mate has ran a through few mot like this and passed, yet when i go to mot, the allowed limit is 3.50 and my emissions are up to 7.9. They where 8.2. Ive got a lend of a cat but its surely not going to make that much difference. We did try another 02 sensor and its bought it down a bit but im wondering do i need a new one! Also changed the ecu to a vti one for mot.

If the car hasn't been mapped for the h22 injectors that's most likely the problem, I doubt the stock ecu designed to run 230cc injectors will be able to cope with the amount of fuel trim needed to reach stoichiometric air/fuel ratio.

as far as i know the cat is perfect it was used for NCT's before and passed
I put a standard teg r ecu in it today wil that help?

So you reckon a cat and b16 injectors shud do it?
Yeah that's your best bet. Throw some dipetane into aswell, should be able to get a bottle at local motorfactors.

Depends on spec of engine weather or not it would be wise to run it on stock ecu or not. Where about's in Ireland are you? I might be able to tweak your power fc to pass emmisions test if the problem is with map.

im in kildare....eh its a stroked b16b with standard cams
need it sorted this week....i was told it could be a leak in the exhaust either

Will be ok to run the standard ecu then but there's no reason it shouldn't pass with power fc. Could be a leak, cover the tailpipe while car is running and see can you hear it blowing out anywhere.

im gonna try this tomorrow and see! ive bin told it could be a faulty o2 sensor either

You passed on lambda @.97 which is just on the limit but still when 02 sensors fail they are normally out by a good bit.
