Yeah I'd always recommend getting it balanced.

Yeh it makes sense too, something I didn't think of! Everyday's a school day.
Really enjoying the engine building.

Rings are all gapped, 0019" top ring
0021" bottom ring.

Again with this site "attention to detail" All the threads are class an well documented

Great work man :nice:

Parcels got delayed in customs :wtf:
But looking likely delivery tomorrow or Monday.
Will be putting the steering rack back in and painting the engine bay this weekend.

Looking great man, good progress! Rack looks tidy. What are you doing with the holes for the hoses? I was thinking of getting some bungs to screw in

Cheers man! :)) It's getting there.
Yeh rack is all done now, I used 2 nice bungs I had left over from a new ABS block. And the larger ones I cut off the unions from the pipes and welded up the hole so it made it a bung.
I'll take a picture tomorrow.

Oooo wait.. I can weld them up now!

Contacted my machine shop today and they gave me a number for a company that they use for balancing.
So I'm taking the clutch, crank, rods, Pistons and crank pulley and all associated bolts to Bassett down balancing on Saturday morning to get the lot balanced.
Seems sensible to do it, thanks to @jesse888 and @robthedoc for the advice :nice:

In the mean time, I've got plenty of engine bay prep to be getting on with while the internals are away.
She be reving happy after that sam !
Good move .

Took the rotating assembly to the balancer today. Really nice chap had a good ol chat and showed me around the workshop.

As I'll have a bit more time on my hands with the engine, I'm painting the block, head and gearbox.
Why not!

Etch primer before colour coat
