EK9 Racecar

**** you have been busy since I've last seen the thread. Brakes wise you had oem discs and ds2500 pads. Must of been going some to brake the pad up lol

I've swapped my fn2 for a DC5 and just done the yearly 2 week's strip down for Nurburgring. Going this Easter weekend.

Nice! How did you get on with the dc5?
Yeh been busy!
I thought the ds2500 was a good track pad too, they just overheated and turned to powder and cracked.
The project mu pads I've got in now have been good so far.
I might get to the ring later in the year, few of us on here might do a late trip.

Hope all is well with you and your new car mate.

Today was a busy busy day!
Went into work to do the brake lines on the car.

I have removed the ABS, and I'm now running internal brake lines via a bias valve just in front of the hand brake.

Day started well, mounted the bias valve and rear t piece.

I then helped out a fellow type r owner that needed some wheel bearings pressed in his freshly powder coated hubs, turned out more of a job than I expected as he was missing the cir clip that holds the bearing in. So he had to go and get his other hubs that I had to strip to get the cir clips out!

Any way he was very happy that we got it done. Gave me a good Bung and he was on his way.

Then started with mine again. I used some nice brake pipe clips that I found on demon tweeks to mount the pipes to the body.

Rubber grommet's in the rear wheel arches to run the lines through.

By the time I'd finished it was dark so the quality of the pictures aren't very good, they don't do the pipes justice, they are very neat and look good!

Will get some better pictures once I've cleaned her up.

Also I forgot to say!! The other week I was searching eBay for some more wheels and happened to come across a set of standard ek9 wheels is dire need of restoring about 40 miles away.

So negotiated with the seller to collect them the next day for a very good price!
Dropped them off at the refurbisher's and only collected them this week.

Will be using these as my track wheels.
I went for satin black, and got some new H emblems.

I love the look of them!

I was at work a total of 11 hours today!
Got to give a massive shout out to my dad.
Cause I was there so long, the two other guys that were at work left! So I had no one to help me bleed my brakes!
Luckily my dad came up to my work and helped me out! We got them all bled up nice.
Thanks Dad!!!

Test drive home the brakes feel so much nicer! Can't believe how much better the pedal feels.
I also seem to have lost my slight brake imbalance issue! (Nsf and OSF)
Maybe the Nsf Abs valve was sticking? Who knows! Fixed now!

Damn I'm nacked now.
Going to eat my kebab and watch SOA.

Thanks for reading!

Keep us posted pal .

More win going on here Sam. Well done mate. Wheels look sweet in satin black. You're old man sounds like a ledge lol.

Following this thread with interest... it's looking great!

I am always curious though, as to the reasoning for the removal of ABS?

Thanks man,

Reason for removal really is that on track you get a better pedal feel with a non Abs system, and you don't have the Abs working when you don't want it too. The Abs system is a good driver aid for normal driving on the road I suppose, but on track it's not needed or wanted.
There are probably loads of threads on here about abs vs non abs if you wanted to know more.
For me it's because racecar lol

Yeah, it's just an area of interest. No right or wrong (or judgement)... always just keen to hear people's rationale either way when they're making such a decision. :)

Wow, you've been busy! The oem wheels look much better in black.
I'm torn between running an internal bias valve and keeping the oem non abs 40/40 valve.

Yeh been very busy!
I've found just with the drive home that the brakes feel better than before. All depends on how far you want to go I suppose. At least with the bias valve you have the freedom to adjust the bias over the oem 40/40.

Had a couple of hours spare this afternoon.
So went into the garage and fitted some roll cage padding.

And fitted a front tow strap.

Got on well with the five, time to go back to a nice daily fn2 tho lol

Picture from the weekend

We will have to go together in the future, would be nice to see it back on the ring. Was really funny because the guy I took as a passenger last year in your ek9 had bought an FK type R in white for this year's trip.

Yeh would be up for that one day.
I'm possibly going later in the year.

One thing to note, be careful of water sitting in the grommets for the rear brake lines, mine had surface rust on when I painted the interior. I've since left them off.

Been a bit quiet on the updates lately, been a bit busy.
Got myself an new daily! Sporting a forum sticker. It'll be a good commuter for me, and also the plan is to use it for a towing vehicle to trailer the ek9 to trackdays :nice:
I haven't always been a fan of Vauxhall but it seems to tick all the boxes and I'm very happy with it so far.

Did a bit of cleaning today in perpetration for Japfest.

Parts wise I've fitted a master cylinder brace.
