I was with Remo at Cranfield in Mk.

There was a blue skyline and it was an r33 not r34. And i also saw a new nissan GTR, those 3 106's were fast and did keep up with it, il video it for ya next time lol

106 GTI are in between the 130bhp EK3 and EK4 if talking about straight line speed. Stock for stock. Nowhere near a 9.
 
as a former 106 owner i think we're all forgetting the fact that regardless of how 'rapid' one is something WILL break every 5 minutes and then cost you £1000 from your local rip-off 'cheap' garage to fix it :angry:

Ive seen some really nice GTIs w/throttle bodies which sounds amazing and to be fair is seriously quick in a line and cornering, but they still have stupid little monkey-sized pedals, a clutch built for inspector gadget and torsion bar rear sus. from an 18th century stagecoach. A seriously tuned EK9 would always outperform a seriously tuned 106.

p.s. Im currently selling my 106, good little run around, low insurance, great for first time buyer :D

wow, interesting stuff there guys... I've never heard about modifying a Pug down here. Seems like some serious pride going on with Pug owners. I was also surprised on the quality comparison between their old pugs vs ek9s? And how hondas sound like high reving raped motor? Im like wtf?
 
Hey man there is nothing wrong with a nice bit of car audio either! I hate ricers but i have a nice tidy system in my ek and that doesn't make my car anything less

No-one needs a music system that is able to go louder than their factory standard speakers in my opinion.
 
i hate pugs so much. but yes they are fast. iv seen plenty do the 1/4 in 14secs. but you got to remember they weigh as much as a bean tin. and as for sayin thy wouldnt tuch a ek9 u may swallow your words. i still hate them tho. ek9 is still the best hatch out there. like any car there is loads of engine transplants like the mi16 or the gti6 engine with the 6speed box they are both around 200bhp and in somethin that weight less than a tonne is going to be very fast.

Yes indeed, that's your opinion. Maybe you can bear with the crappy stock **** but some people want better sound, the same way you want better cams, rims or whatever. It's a hobby.
 
oh the whole pug vs ek9 thread has given me a good chuckle.
think alot of it has to do with ek4 owners driving about with type r stickers and splitters. had a hell of alot of saxo/pug owners try it on at the lights cause they think mine is a vti. might go out and find some of these pug owners and educate them

The difference is that my set of cams or rims or whatever don't play stupidly loud music while I drive at a snails pace circling KFC with my windows open unlike the 'set-ups' people have in England. If you just like crystal clear music at normal levels then that's brilliant but most people in England only buy them to do the former. Perhaps it's different in the Netherlands.
 
i love having crystal clear music and i do like to have it loud on the occasion but im not a prick about it and try and act cool in a kfc car park.

I have no problem with that, it's the stupid chavs with their deafening Halfords rubbish that get my goat. Maybe I'm just annoyed at the fact that I haven't got around to getting a CD player fitted, all I have is a MD player in my car and I only have three random MD's for it: The Corrs, Britney Spears and Moby. It's like hell!
 
yea deffinately get a new headunit, that might be why lol
i got a ipod one for £150 and its all my own tracks, its so much better than radio imo

I can't even get radio :angry:

Just spent £500 on servicing parts from Lings, so I'm not too keen having another few hundred going out this month, the fitting of the radio on my car is a pain in the arse, you have to take the heater controls out and stuff.

Once I know all of the words to 'Oops I Did It Again' I might fork out the extra money :p
