But for some a Type R diesel might be the only way to own a Type R if you have to drive a lot of miles, or as a lease car. But imho it should be called Type S or something.

I really don't think that's the case anymore
I agree they used to be and with some car companys they still are but diesels such as Honda's and BMW's I think there catching up
for example BMW 3 series 2.0 0-60 7 seconds And I bet there alot easier to drive then a petrol
 
so what? have you ever owned a performance diesel?

I have. It was crap. If you want a performance car buy petrol. full stop. i may be drunk but a diesel will never EVER be as good to cain up a backroad.
 
interesting to know what will a diesel engine sound like when you in vtec:))

Yeah, they've become pretty quick. Especially BMW diesels.

What if you'd have to choose out of a variety of diesel cars for your work (lease) or a Civic Type R diesel? Cause you just can't compare them one on one.
 
I don't agree that diesel's are "****" the new generation of diesels engines are producing some great figures. Nothing like a heap of torque to stick you to the seat:nice:

+1, but they are far from good for the environment and the price difference from gas is not all that great. Maybe if the Honda was used for towing:D
 
saying diesels are **** is such a bald statement.

I dont think a diesel can ever represent a "Honda Type R"

Modern diesel engines are great, you cant call them ****. At the end of the day, bhp is for selling a car and pub talk, torque is what wins races.
 
First Honda took the backward step of using a torsion beam suspension setup, now they're combining it with a tractor engine? LOL! It's gunna be about as **** as every other new car..

Difference with the torsion bar is that you can choose between a petrol or diesel Type R, with the torsion beam you can't choose between torsion beam or independent double wishbone ;)

i doubt there will be anything special done with the engine , just good turbochargin' really . the steering , brakes and suspension is whats gonna make or brake this car .
