Get one with a roll bar, you only need a single tree and you've got a perfect hammock setup! I have actually done this too, but not in an MX5, it was between a Corolla and a lamp post in a retail park car park. :D
 
An old Volvo Estate or an MB6 maybe even a Land Rover.

Hahaha you know what, I'm very tempted to say I'll do it in an MX5, I'm all for a laugh. Bit concerned about the lack of storage space, though having said that I know from experience that you can fit 200kg of gravel in one, if you don't mind an "interesting" driving experience!
 
Hope your well buddy, You could of brought my MB6 i had. Had 78k on the clock sold it for under a grand. Would of fit the bill perfectly for your travels. How was Japan btw?
 
Hey Irf, I'm well thanks, how are you? Ahh I should have done! I've not actually returned home yet though haha. Japan was amazing, though I struggled to find proper work so I moved to Singapore until my visa expired there, now I'm living in Brisbane, Australia. How's the Civic doing?

I saw this a few years ago! I kind of took a bit of inspiration from it though it's always something I wanted to do, just without the restrictions of the Mongol rally. And I'd quite like to do it solo too, which I'm not sure you can with the Mongol rally? Also I met a guy in Malaysia a few weeks ago who was cycling from Leeds to New Zealand, that kind of gave me inspiration too
