How are the other areas of the world on car theft?

I know in the US its dredful. I'm one of the 5 people to own a CTR in all of oregon and washington. and I've owned it 2 weeks and have had several attempts. I'm having an alarm installed this week and she will sit in my garage until then.

But I'm curious to know if the car theft is so bad anywhere else.

US FACT!

Integra type R is number 3 on the USA nations most stolen car! 6 out of ten are salvaged title due to theft. Its horrid. That's 60% of R's get jacked. Who knows how many are wrecked. I see maybe 1 or 2 clean titles for sale on honda-tech and that's it.

Same goes for the 99-00 honda civic si. I've owned 3. All were theft recoveries needing motor or some kind of parts.

Car theft is getting annoying. Whenever I drive my ek9 around I have to take me eCU and fuel pump relay just to feel somewhat safe. And then I need a window so I can see it from where ever I'm dining. Its pathetic. What do you guys do for protection? Besides alarm. I was thinking of custom welding a huge steel bracket around my steering column so it would be unbreakable and the car would have to be towed w/o a key. Just a idea.

Let me know mates.

Cheers,
Matt

I have a Cifford with a back up siren, plus, I use the club as well.

A couple of times. That's why I also put the club for them to think again.
But don't forget, if they wanna steal it, they will. There's always a way for everything.

think it happens everywere mate.when someone see you with a nice car they just hav to hav it

I live in california so i feel your pain, i have over 20k in parts in my civic and because of fear of theft i simply no longer drive it, i used to do the same as you making sure to take every precaution including window seats etc, my have a rare quick release so that helps but in the end i just gave up and bought a Subaru WRX, its enough to satisfy my itch and no worries about theft, simple as that. You want something nice you gotta make sure its NOT an attention grabber. My wrx looks complete stock but it has a lot of mods.

End of the day, if it looks good it will get stolen.

I think over here car crime is just a bad but at least guns arnt redily available because I think it would be 10x worse if they were.

Shame that we all have to spend a shed load on security so little so and so's cant steal are motors.

I expect organised car crime as in car stolen for parts etc is worse over in the US purely becuase of your larger population. Most common car crime over here is a few 14 year olds hot wireing or stelaing keys for an old heap of ****.

Shame we cant have flamethrowers under are cars like in South Africa where car crime is just ridiculas.

It's pretty bad in the UK TBH! 3 attempts on the RX-7 outside my house with a alarm etc . . . That was just in 2 weeks of my brother owning it.

They actually got in once, broke the streering collum, then gave up, but thought it would be fun to destroy/vandalize the car before they left!

Also, someone tried to break into the CRX in town once, with a screw driver!

Also someone failed robbing the ITR once too, so they took the badge's instead.

black and white RX-7's have no issue's so far, but they grab far too much attention wherever they go.

Man. CTR is just to gangster haha. Well thanks guys, I was wondering if the us was only bad. Apperently not.

i'm not too sure about u guys abroad ,over here in malaysia car thief is just insane,
u can lock , install 10 alarms all u want ..... they just tow it...
my friend parked his car in a mall's car park... when he came back the car was gone.
looked at cctv , saw a tow truck IN A MALL. When he confronted the security guard
they say the finance company had paper work to take the car... my friend bought the car cash!!

In my country car theft is a "daily" thing we have to deal everyday, but JDM cars are not usual "victims of thieves", I've only heard of 1 starlet Glanza stolen, obviously for parts, some guy might have a motor blown so he just needed a new one.

No Honda Type R has been stolen in my country, since JDM cars are not "legal" here, the thieves don't find it profitable to steal JDM cars.

Most of the cars that get stolen in my country, go to el salvador or honduras, but JDM are NOT legal in that countries, so thats a "advantage" here. Also a lot of people think that since the car is RHD, the gears are also on the other side lol.. So they think that the normal 5th is the 1st of a RHD drive!

In conclusion having a JDM car in my country is safe, the only problem is the police, they always want money to "help you out" since you got a illegal car on the street. But the cars are legal since you pay the taxes for it and have the license plate and registration.

i almost had my car stolen around 3am couple months ago and i put in about 10k on my car so now im happy that i got a really really really great ALARM you should too save me about 3 times already ever since then,

CLIFFORD is the way to go plus put in heat sensor like i did save me and maybe it will save you too.:drive:

in our country car theft is a bussiness for the morons who does it...
either they chop up your car then sell the parts individually or they sell the whole car jaz by changing the documents(fake). we got a lot smuggled cars here in our country too, im not trying to brag or anything but:secret: you can find ferrari to porsche to any kind of car....

Wouldn't it be better if you parked your car in the garage over night if you have one? After reading this thread I am getting worried for mine now :(

Oh I always park my **** in the garage. I'm just always paranoid when I drive it and have to leave it anywhere outta my sight. I heard about that heat alarm thing. Whenever it gets over a certain tempurature in the car you are noted. I'm gonna go with that a backup siren and proximeties. Andddd a club. Lol.

well i live in miami ,,and i think miami is #1 when it comes to stealing ,,specially Hondas..it just recently happened to me ,they stole my hatch ,and i had an alarm,,ecu was removed ,had a kill switch ,a club and other things i wont say ,and without me noticing or hearin anything they towed the car ,and took it ..after 1 day ,the car was found in the middle of nowhere ,without the engine plus everything else under the bay ...turbo kit ,,everything ..and i had already spent like almost 9000
so i think the best thing to do to void this ,,for those who dont have one .RENT one , get cameras,,LO-JACK ,its worth it to spend a little extra money in security of your car ,than feeling the pain ,when they take it off your hands....:lock:it up

yeah i forgot about the tow truck thing, i had a 96 civic coupe that got sotlen via tow truck, it was found stripped down, the key holes and ignition were all intact! Funny part is that it was an auto transmission with a d16 non vtec engine and manual windows, no AC even!!!! only lowered on **** springs and rota wheels.

Sounds like some tweaker **** bro. Yeah sorry for your loss.

As for miami being #1 for theft for honda and acura not number one butttt..... actually here is the list for all you USA cats.

1. Pheonix , AZ
2. Fresno , CA
3. Modesto , CA
4. Stockton , CA
5. Los vegas , NV
6. Miami , FL
7. Sacramento , CA
8. Oakland , CA
9. Tacoma , WA
10. Seattle , WA

**** man the west coast is just full of this theft ****.

I'm getting ready to make this custom braket around ur ignition so noone can break it. In essence ur car would have to be towed (since the thiefs can't break the column) unless you have the key. Ill post pics of the prototype next week when I start on it.
