Hi guys,

I'll be picking up an EJ9 soon as a daily driver. I don't plan on doing to much to it in the way of engine mods, but was thinking a few bolt-ons for breathing etc couldn't hurt. :D

I'd like to install a CAI(or short ram) and a front strut bar. Now as you guys know, the throttle body is upward facing, and due to the air box sitting so high, a standard front strut bar can't be mounted.

So I'm basically asking you guys what sort of set ups you guys have (some pics would be great :D ) and if there's a way of installing a decent air intake and strut bar without having to replace the intake manifold with a D16z6?

Thanks in advance :nice:

i v got a carbon whales ***** on mine just took the filter out of the air box and cliped it on seems to work fine

Fit a D16z6/y8 intake manifold and get a induction kit on it. Makes a nice difference to power and sounds much better:nice:

Ye I've thought of it, and have it as a final option of sorts :p

Just curious to see what set ups guys have with the D14 mani... :D

tbh the d14 standard I.M is ****! the runners are very restrictive. Swap it out for a d16 one...

I know mate, i'm only using it as a daily driver which is why I'm not planning to much engine/performance mods... Just some bolt-ons to help it breath a bit better and a strut bar for some handling improvement, not trying to make any power gains etc. :D

It's a pretty cheap mod tho mate by the sounds of it
and getting a induction kit for the standard one just seems pointless which is why I havnt bothered

how easy is this? as i thought of that too as the d14 is mounted upwards differently to the d16 intake mani

It's pretty easy. Just get a few pieces of vac line from donor car as you will need to extend a few of ur own. Will need throttle cable from sohc vtec or EK4 and you reuse your d14 throttle body on d16 mani. I extended the injector wiring and IAT sensor wiring to give a tidy install

Hi,
I did a swap with a D16. I did not do it myself tho only helped taking it off. cost me 150 labour and 40 pounds for the manifold. but the power gain is noticeable

Replace the exhaust to pass MOT. But had to weld with Bpipe as you can see ><
Might get some custom stainless steel exhaust at MIJ Performance Walsall, got a quote for 255 pounds includ VAT labour. Good company? price?

The swap paid 150 for the labour >< he was not that good

Hello,
I'm planning the same job myself. Is there much of a difference in power with the d16 intake on the d14?

yes, the d16 intake is one of the best basic mods you can do to a d14.
