Has there ever been a professional race driver that has put the EK9 to the test on the Nordschleife? Or someone here with lots of experience on the Nordschleife that has timed their laps? I'm wondering what it does on the ring for I think a lot of the current hot hatches won't be able to stand up to the EK9 in terms of cornering and corner speed :drive:

Nice website! Now we only need some EK9 times to compare :p

I would say around the 9:00 mark is about right for an EK9.
Not sure if it was ever tested there "officially" though.

how are those times compiled?

Pitty none of us have MoTeC with the GPS telemetry add-on, it'd map out the ring on the software and youd have an EXACT time!

I have a Nokia N82, Symbian OS with GPS, if I'm right I can install a sports-GPS tracking application.

my bro joe can do sub 9 mins in his dc2,
i am about 9 mins 20 but i only drive at 75 % round there, those barriers are expensive!!!

Those times are Bridge to Gantry?

Official times are from the old start/finish point and a complete lap.
I was doing 8:30's in my DC2 with semi slicks and Tein. Standard'ish EK9 wasn't far off that pace.

Yep, Ollys times are BTG....

Joes time is on R888's & otherwise standard car...good pedalling:clap:

I remembered reading somewhere that a DC2 was tested @ circa 8.45 ?BTG?.......totally standard & with an experienced nurburgring tester at the wheel...

An EK9 should be similar. Its only disadvantage would be its lesser torque than a B18C would put it at quite a disadvantage on the climb out of Bergwerk up Kesselchen (sp?) all the way to the Karussell..:)

doesent make all that much difference if you hit bergwek right,, when both the cars are in vtec they pull nigh on teh same :nice::nice:

my ek9 woudl do teh same time as joes DC2 if he was driving it he is slightly more "unhinged" than i am on track and likes to give it 110 % :drive::drive::drive::drive:

Good point....we know they go pretty similar on the road too:)

Unhinged driving= Sub 9m BTG then:D:win:

It all depends where the lap was measured from....most of us "ordinary" folks measure Bridge to Gantry on a public day...though most official magazine tests are measured over a full lap of the old course (on days when it is closed to the public). The article I saw times the standard ITR @ 8.43 for SportAuto magazine...not 100% sure if this is BTG or full lap though??

8.43 is a very quick BTG time, let alone a full lap....

As a comparison...if you watch the Type-R legends DVD & time the lap in the S2000, Gansang manages something around an 8m20 BTG......

He really does know his way round there & the driving is FULLY committed too......

x2
think i was about 9.30 but never get a free run really, always someone in the way and always the €€€€ of barriers in the back of the mind so agree with the 75% :) :)

wow! im going there at the end of the year but watching that video im now pooing my self! lol i really hope d2 coil overs and r888's will be up for the job:nerv:

ive also heard you cant take video's on the ring is this true as im thinking of getting a bumper cam fitted for it...

You will be fine...just give the place some respect & yourself plenty of breathing space with regards to driving on the limit:)

Gansan is a complete legend....he is one of the quickest & most respected testers for Best-Motoring...

There is a vid of him on YouTube doing an 8m05 (almost) full lap old pits to old pits in an NSX-R

A quicker or more committed lap you will struggle to find!

Not bad for an old Japanese bloke with a junk leather jacket & brogues:nice:
