B18C V B16B Comparison Video -Rolling Start

I don't think I'm going to do the swap LOL

I agree, maybe too much hassle and cost..but I'm sure the gains are better than they seem on paper.

The thread was a B16B vs B18C comparison, B18C wins.

Cost just seems to have stemmed on from the thread some how...

i 100% agree with you about the b18c being better as my car shifts now. its only slightly behind my dads evo8 dyno'd at 343 bhp, all the way through the gears and i can actually creep past him eventurelly as his limiter kicks in at 155 :D.

im only talking cost so people out there know that it isnt going to be cheap. unless you know people or can do the work yourself.
just like i would say stroking the b16b is a waste of money

Cool. :nice:

Should not of mentioned about it keeping up with you Dad's Evo..makes me want to do the conversion again LOL

but gee im not being funny but ive had run ins with 300BHP subarus evo FQ300's etc and i can say the EK holds its own, They pull yes but i stay around very well i'd say especially if you catch them off guard.... So its not one extreme to another.....

Go out there and have some drags with your car and you'll see what its capable of......

Where Im from, Stroking the B16B is very expensive and doing a B20 is even more expensive.

Some might argue that the B20 crank off the CRV aint that reliable for high revving for long term. Getting the workmanship and tuning is another thing to worry about.

The cheapest way by far is doing the B18C swap. But getting a nice good condition B18C is hard to come by these days. I dont really know if anyone here has actually read the mod lists for my 9 and calculated the actual costs for those parts because doing a b18C swap and adding a Intake and exhuast will still end up cheaper and much faster than the B16B.

Anyways, everyone should be content with what they have. We'd all have a K20a if we could.

I've never said the B16B is not a capable engine..just that mods for mods, the B18C comes out on top.

Man I forgot all about this thread. Some interesting responses though.

I had a little play with an uk ep3 this weekend gone on the motorway, and I was pretty impressed to be honest. I know its not really fare comparing stock to modded, but I really could'nt shake him. Ive been out in a passenger ride in a few ep3's, but this was the first one Ive ever come up against. From what I could see/hear it had an intake, zorst lowered etc.It pulled extremely well:shocked:

Its got me thinking now about maybe selling my 9 and going for a jdm ep3, but I reccon I'd miss the 9 too much.
It would be pretty good to see a uk/jdm ep3 v a b18c ek9 though:)

Heres another comparison video I found. See what you guys think:

EP3 with intake coudnt shake my mate in his his MK2 CRX with intake, decat and lowered on some cheap springs through MK. Was all over his arse.

I`d rather have the 9...

I would definately rather have a 9 too.

I'd sort your intake, header, exhaust and then get a remap with anftermarket ECU and see how you feel then ;)

And if you do decide to go B18C, the parts should cross over :nice:

This video is a clear indication between both b16 and b18. Stock vs stock OR mod vs mod. Higher displacement always makes more torque and power.

yet I still feel the feeling of prideful b16 comments. Please everyone, just stick to the topic

come on.. we're all vtec lover right...

of course b18 is faster than b16..but it depends on driver itself..

if drag race yeah u can say b18 is faster..(both stock)...

but try track or touge... like i said it depends on how u drive the car...

cheers:))

Before I bought my EK9 I did use to wonder am I as well buying an ITR due to price, extra torque and power, got the 9 in the end.

A wee while back I had a race with a stock 96 JDM ITR, only the driver in each car..

From each set of lights the 9 was quicker and stayed ahead until around 3rd gear where it would be pretty much neck in neck. The conditions were wet so maybe due to the ITR having more torque lower down it was spinning power away initially.

He never overtook me until a long uphill sweeping bend where he done so on the outside lane, that ended in him fishtailing, spinning three times and sliding backwards into a wall:wow:

So it pretty much comes down to driver and conditions I guess, worst thing is though. When I spoke to him a few weeks later he said he didn't care and almost had me:angry2:

I felt sorry for the ITR, but with equal drivers I would imagine the ITR/B18C would def be quicker!

both engines are pretty identical weight with the b18 having more torque and power, so in your car the b18 would be faster than your b16. Or for the same difference again you could get a b20 for an easy 220bhp
