I recently rebuilt a b16a2. Here is a quick run down of parts/cost for me.
Head
• Banda Engineering – skim, acid clean, clean valves, regrind valves with new stem seals, reassemble valve springs and rocker arms. £90
• New genuine Honda Stem seals. £40
• Camshafts, valve springs/retainers from JDM Integra - already got
• ITR Inlet manifold and 62mm TB - already got
• Tegiwa PTFE thermal intake manifold and throttle body gaskets. £45
• New Genuine Honda exhaust and inlet studs and bolts. £9
• New genuine Honda exhaust manifold gasket. £18
• ARP headstuds - already new on engine
• New genuine Honda head gasket £50
Block
• Banda Engineering – Inspection/measure of bores and crank. Disassemble acid clean and rebuild with hone on bores. Block/crank in good shape with no machining needed. £120
• New RIKEN piston rings £45
• New ACL Duraglide Trust/Main/Rod Bearings £100
• New genuine Honda bottom end gasket set. £50
• Water pump refitted (100miles old)
• New genuine Honda sump gasket £18
• Tegiwa sump baffles welded in £15
• Magnetic Sump plug £8
• New genuine Honda thermostat £24
General
• New CV boots (inner/outer) replaced on drive shafts £34
• New genuine Honda fuel filter £23
• Replaced camblet side engine mount with almost new item, with all new genuine Honda nuts/bolts. £20
• Gearbox Oil replaced with Honda MFT3 £40
• Tegiwa Magnetic gearbox plug fitted. £8
• Reconditioned OEM Fuel injectors from Spirit9 (with print outs) inc purchase of injectors £85
• Tegiwa Aluminium racing radiator fitted. Filled with MOTUL super indulge coolant. £106
• Engine filled with 10w40 Mineral oil and Hamp oil filter x3 £48 + £21
Total £1017
Take into consideration the like of CV boots, and running in oil etc... so more like £900 as I replace a few bits for peace of mind.
Yeh I know I could have bought a b18 for that but I now have a brand new engine, with a higher spec so I am happy. Plus I learnt a lot in the process.
As you can see I payed for a machine shop to do the main engine work and assembly of pistons/crank etc. And I assembled everything else myself, saving a fair bit.
90% of the parts listed above are exactly the same as for a b18c....just got to shop around online for the best prices.
