205, 215 or 225 for a 210hp Civic

well i got 15 x 6'' and i will go for 195 50 15 toyo R1R i think it will be good i have some integra friends that they use this and when they drag with ep3 or fn2 they always win :D

Well thats the correct sized tyre for your rim dude. Ofcourse it will perform well lol

I use to run Toyo R1Rs, are these semi-slicks or street tyres?

These are street tyres, they perform better than Toyo R888 in the wet, and only slightly behind in the dry

u think so jug? 1 friend of mine that own yaris have tested some tires over the years and now he run r888 he told me about r1r that its a good tyre but after 10000 klm are useless but its not bad tyre , i have 2 friends that they use r1r with their integras jdm and they keep goin to this tyre so i ll trust this and U :)))
at the moment i use toyo proxes 4 (i have them for 3.5 years and they are like 2 months used) and my father toyo t1r , all good tires :D

Its common fact that slicks and semi slicks perform worse than street tyres in the WET but excel in the DRY. Thats why slicks are not legal on the street, simply because its easy to die in the rain.

Even if you were to run street tyres on the track on a raining day or wet surface, you will go faster than a semi slick.

R1R is good because its a high performance tyre thats very close to a semi slick. Just like Advan Neova AD08 or Bridgestone RE-11(best tyre imo and beats R888).

T1R excels as a wet weather tyre, but lacking in dry weather. Still good tyre.

Remember, it also depends where you live. Here in the states, anything smaller than a 225 is seriously getting harder and harder to find! I've run 195 and 205 (205/45-16 at the moment) and I found out I was paying $25 more because people rarely order this size! Also, Toyo doesn't make a 215

Also Toyo R1R is a good street and track tire. They have a little bit stiffer sidewall, and they are the spec tire for NASA's Honda Challenge race series and many other semi-pro racing series (if that means anything to you) Only downside.... over $200 for 1 tire! WTF! After the financial crisis and Great Japanese Earthquake, Japanese rubber has sky rocketed in price!

I am interested in going with a more cost effective tire, since the Toyo R1R doesn't last that long under spirited driving conditions (bascially, after 20 or 30 minutes at the track... they're done!) Everyone has been raving about the Hankook Ventus R-S3 for road and track use. They ARE cheaper than the R1R and a stiffer sidewall to boot.

ok then i ll go for r1r :)))

Any reason why you go for Toyo? Maybe you should research for tyre reviews and tests, that way you can find the best tyre for your budget and application. Theres lots of new tyres out there with new technology. :nice:

225/45/16 - RE11's upfront and 195's at the back with no power steering feels awesome on my dc2. No understeer at all.

WTF!! Since when did RE11's come in 225/45/16?????? Man thats the tyre I need for my 16x8 SE37! Fark me I had a difficult time looking for that size in any tyre brand. Going to check tirerack!

You can't buy them here in uk, import only. Sorry the RE11's are 215/45/16, they replaced my RE01's that were 225/45/16.

well i liked my new height of the car with the new eibach springs but the front of my car is too low , and from the headers i got 8cm to the ground , my dad told me that i should change the tyres to put something bigger so i was thinking , that now i got 195 50 15 to go for 195 60 15 will that be ok ?

depends if the new wall height will cause the tyres to rub on the inner wings as you say it sits quite low? personnelly i wouldn't go above 55 profile tyres as the flex is too much imo!

yeah i think the rubber will go off !!!yeah i ll stay like this and i will just stop most streets that i ve used too :/

I know that you can get ADVAN AD's in 225/45/16, because I have a set of 4 of them on my car right now! It is a Subaru STI, but I think I am going to take the tyres, and try them on the front of my EK9...assuming they will fit, with no rubbing...

PS - At the moment, I have Advan AD07 205/45/16 on all corners, but since I have a set of 4 good Advan AD07 225/45/16 sitting at home, I might try them on the front, particularly for my next track day.
My rims are 16 x 7, by the way.

To answer my own question.....I do not think I will do it. I will effectively be lowering my final drive....I would rather go the opposite way, for the track, put on some slightly smaller than stock height tyres, to get some acceleration.
It also seems that I will have rubbing problems...
