I need to upgrade the exhaust system on my EE9 (with B16B) but I'm not sure whether to stick with 2.25" or go to 2.5".?

Its internally stock atm but with a good remap. I will be installing bigger cams at some point in the future with slighly upped compression aswell.

Which would be best to go for, the only advantage I can think of from a 2.25" system would be that it is better at low revs and slow driving and perhaps would give better torque. Will I notice much difference during normal driving if I change to a 2.5"?

go for a 2.38

that is the ek9 and DC2's standard bore size

I managed to find a good post on exhaust sizes which I missed earlier, so thats confirmed it, I will go 2.5", it should work well with my engine as it is at the moment but will definitly be good when I raise the compression and get my cams installed. :)

Just note, most systems that advertise themselves as 2.5" are actually 2.5" external diameter, and either 2.25" or 2.38" internal diameter. 2.25" diameter exhaust also are often 2" or near enough internal diameter.

With a B16B, a 2.25" system is only going to hinder you.

ya man i would go 2.5, thats what i always use, you will notice a bit of power freed up.

Correction, Most aftermarket exhausts systems are 60mm/2.36" piping diametre, Spoon, Tanabe, Buddyclub, J's racing, (54mm to 60mm for Mugen)
Very few systems are 2.5" - Kteller do 2.5" systems.

:)

Skunk2 also has 60mm 70mm and 76mm systems now available, i would go for the 70mm if you can handle the noise, if you can't handle too much noise stick to 60mm or 2.5"

Most aftermarket is 2.36" because their from Japan. Only Japan use 2.36" pipes. I dont know about US and UK but you wont find any custom 2.36" pipes in AU.
