Yes finally 250 posts

At the same time 250 posts tells you f all about the seller! I'm on this forum everyday, I've spent thousands buying stuff on this forum. Loads of sellers can vouch for me and I've a few buddies on here who have been on here for years yet I still can't sell anything. Mabby a vetting process would be a better idea rather than just more posts.

This is another thread thats gone OTT. This is happening more and more on this forum. After Vti2010 getting banned for pointing out missed information from a For Sale thread.

I have been on this forum for over 3 years.............and i still only have 224 Posts.

I bought my first type R through this forum (RyanDohc's current EK9) from Kaks.

I then sold that EK9 to Ryan again through this website.

I have bought parts from the For Sale section and helped other members find things they were looking for by linking and searching the forum for them.

I have been involved in discussions ranging from engine oils and which to use, to vehicle dynamics and roll centre adjustment.

I would say I have contributed to this forum and the development of knowledge and the community and i did it all without 256,000 posts.

That being said my 251st post will be a for sale thread because genuinely have things to sell.

What im saying is that Post Count doesnt really count for Sh*t. It is not an indication of the members intentions or how valuable they are to the forum.

Its become a little like a sewing circle on here these days and anyone new that has been eagerly racking up posts is automatically someone to avoid or in some way wrong to be trying to achieve the 250 post status.

I dont see the problem with this thread.......its just some of us are obviously a little more honest than others......even if a little tactless :)

Lets add time to the equation then - You must have at least 250 posts and have been a regular member for over 1 year.

How's that sounds ??

Trust me it was a little more than just a comment! That was just the final straw that got him the ban.

Dunx

As ted said 250 posts does. Not tell you nothing about the seller
However does keep scammers down

250 posts is reasonable I think as it stops people who just join forums to try scam people there not gonna bother there arse waiting for 250 posts! Who cares anyways ek9 forum is the best civic forum about simples! Uve got 250 posts so good luck selling the car!

Thats the best idea IMO. At least this way you would need to be regularly contributing ideas etc to the forum before you would be able to sell things.
Also, I can see why this thread has been flamed. Fair enough you have enough posts to sell...why would you need to announce it?
It took me 4 and a half years to get enough posts on here to sell as i never really posted, just read things (although I have been on here pretty much everyday since i joined), but I didn't feel the need to announce that I was now able to sell things. If you're gonna do it...just do it.
No wonder your post count is so high after so little time after posting threads like this about absolute rubbish. (No offence...just my opinion)

Exactly it is the best forum, and cheers

In all seriousness though, perhaps there could be a post limit per day, or a fee to sell on the forum.

Im on other forums where you have to pay to advertise, works well and prevents any scammers...also helps contribute to the running of the forum.

Also, off topic posts do not add to your post count, but thats its own section.

I dont agree with people posting crap in order to bump their post count up, however if the OP wants to sell his car, fair enough...if you dont wanna buy it, dont go on the thread.

As Ross says i think we just need to utilise a bit of common sense, if you dont like whats being sold or whos selling it, stay off the thread.

I think anything else including "length of service" targets would just make the forum inaccessible for trade of the right kind. I dont think were quite at that stage yet as its not like were riddled with scammers on this forum.

Take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt. You have been a member rougly 9 months longer than I have and have nearly 5x as many posts as I do. How many of your posts would you classify as 'spam'? I bet more than you'd care to admit.

People get on this forum and notice what the trend for posts are: short, quick, and mostly complementary. How many times do people have to say nice ride? How many times do they have to say Welcome to the forum? How many times can you say engine A is different than engine B because___? The list goes on and on. It's a forum. This is how forums operate.

It is stupid when people sign up and do a bunch of stupid posts with no intention of being active in the community and only want to sell stuff. I would argue that is a small percentage. Look at the join dates and post counts of those that have stuff for sale.

Granted the thread creator was a bit thick about reaching 250 and being able to sell, but he has been a member for 7 months! Way to help build on that community feeling by bashing him.

I have been here not much longer than you, but if you have a look, im very active in the events section. And you can hardly compare 2 people about how much they post, its about quality, not quantity.

The reason I said what i did was because it was obvious the reason he's been posting so much recently. He even admitted it.

And im willing to bet the reason he made those threads is just to get his post count up.

I'd be happy to pay a little bit towards the site to keep that **** off the forum.

I have to agree, sounds a good idea. If someone wants to use this forum in the correct way and without spamming they won't mind waiting a year to sell stuff. I have stuff to sell but haven't put it on here, everyone thinks 250 post is the mile stone!!

The year rule is abit overboard I think. You'll end up with nothing for sale on here if you do that. I can barely keep a car for a year let alone some parts I don't want. Like I'm selling bits of my ek9 that's not to my taste. I wouldn't be waiting a year just to sell it on here,

Jeeezzz!!! this thread exploded overnight haha.

Personally I would like to see the post count kept. But only for the right to request entry into the classifieds. The whole section should be off limits to those who have only just joined. It should be controlled buy the mods so once a newb has reached 250 posts they can PM a mod and request access if the mod sees that they have just posted junk then they can tell them where to go and Zero their post count.

Once people realise that they will need to be cleared for the right to sell then they are less likely to just post junk.

I for one have been messed about on a few occations by people only just reached 250 or even selling through other people which I hadn't noticed.

Being a fellow member who hasn't enough posts to sell i'm looking at the situation from a different angle. I've sold stuff here through pm's with no problems with anyone. The day will come when i can eventually post up a for sale thread. In my opinion there should be a way of posting rare and genuine parts here with no hassle... It's nice to see the good parts that are left circulate within the community. Some of the parts that come available through the site are getting very hard to come across :)

But isn't it a good thing people selling parts on here as it keeps interest/ek9 on the road.

I have got an issue with people just selling loads of Halfords crap and non ek9 parts.

How about the for sale section being solely for EK9 specific parts.

Dunx

That makes complete sense to me. Ek9 only and anyone can advertise. This website is supposed to be the hub of the Ek9 community, buying and selling parts is a massive part of the ownership experience. I bet half the people on here look in the classifieds 1st when they come on the website.

Parts are rare and not always easy to find. These draconian measures limit the ownership experience somewhat.

Best example was when I was a new member, had just bought an EK9, needed parts asap and couldn't even put a wanted add up. No doubt loads of people had the parts and couldn't put for sale ads up. In the end, I broke my car for spares, the fact I couldn't source parts I needed was a factor in that. Shame.
