wot can b done to a 1.4i???

 thats it you tell em mate
Nice to hear some positive posts on d14 engines and 1.4i civic drivers. The ek9 is an amazing feat of enginering and i'm sure everyone on this site who hasn't got an ek9 one day hopes to own one of there own. Getting one isn't cheap and starting on the ladder to one by getting a 1.4 civic is a great idea. You get low insurance, good fuel economy, similar looks to a ek9 and u can still pull away from some larger engined cars. Looking at the other posts it shows you can definatly have increased performance with the car too. Theres no need for disrespectful comments as we're here looking for help and inspiration out of respect for ur cars. We all love Honda's don't we, so why don't we take the piss out of people who spend too much time in the Halfords bargin bins for there smart cars or somethin lol :p

What dont uou swap a B16A not a B... it's a loooot cheaper...
After putting $$$ in good parts you will end up spending as much
money as for a b16a with the tranny of course.

Than with a b16a you have a lot of potential and it's
a lot more fun to drive.

I had a 93 civic with the d16 VTEC before this one and
after driving the b16a you realised that speeding money on the
D is a big loss...

Save money and do a swap when you can afford it !!
You could always swap the d16 with 125hp and VTEC...
It would cost the price of some bolt on of your 1.4.

the thing is if i started to save now (on this wage) there would be no vtecs left and ill be an old man

You can get a 125MPH from a standard 1.4 civic.

A filter around £50-100
Full exhaust inc mani £400-500
New intake Mani £40-100
And some sort of remap £50-200

Prob good for 30 BHP like te other guys have said.

Off the mark u can show up bigger cars as thease cars are easy to launch coz the wheels are hard to spin in the dry with good tyres. Its just 3rd gear and up that are a bit dissapointing 1st and 2nd are fun coz its light.

I have showed up 1.6 astras and 1.8 escorts etc in my 1.4 civic and all that had was air filter.

Look on youtube there are a few homemade 1.4 turbos.

lol 111mph is all u get in ur corsa id say give it a week n it will **** itself. dont understand wots up wit ur civic only reaching 111mph in 4th wen ive seen 125mph in 4th and still not limit. or atleast 120 most times. thanks for the info... my m8 still has the civic but just sold n bought another glanza... cant bring himself t leave honda by the looks of things lol

:secret:
#1 i wasnt ripping i was being cheeky

#2 i have no idea what you mean about it shitting itself i didnt know cars poo

#3 i hate my car mate if i had that civic i certainly wouldnt be complaining, british people cant make cars!

Euh...say what?? 40% power increase with a few boltons? I think that might be a bit optimistic :D I mean, I have seen D15's with IM swaps from D16's, catback, header etc and they were stil slow (nofi). Don't forget saxo also has a different gearbox :p One guy I know had all that including a mpfi swap (stock gearbox) and we clocked him on 11s to 62mph with my G-Tech.

The best "cheap" mod that you can do if it's really about a tight budget.....D16z6 swap. They aren't that expensive and then you start with way more power than a D14 without spending a complete fortune. Then first thing to do with the exhaust is install a decat or high flow cat, as the stock cat is restrictive like ****. I also measured this with me G-Tech; when I take off my cat and put a decat back, it almost takes 1 FULL second of mine 0-62mph. I did several runs and I couldn't believe it...

Then change header and rest of the exhaust, get a CAI etc etc. With these mods I do 0-62 in 7,6s with a top speed of 225km/h on the speedo which is between 210 en 215 in real km/s (at 200km/h I drive 188 for real).

you wont get near a 30bhp gain on an ek9 with those mods LOL nevermind a 1400cc:angry:

why notust improve the externals looks etc without spending too much money then save up for a ek9/dc2 when you can afford to ensure one! i personally had a 1.5 before my 9 spent money on a custom exhaust from powerflow tenzo induction and japspeed mani lowered it 60mm front 40mm rear (front was stupidly low!!!) and finished off with usual ek9 rep grill and sum 15" honda jazz alloys and after doing all that id say it was a bit of a waste of money :)

Maybe not 30bhp but 20bhp could be plausible. I swaped a D16 I.M on to my G.F's 1.4 civic and the difference it made to the power throughout the rev range was very noticeable. The standard I.M on those 1.4's are crap the runner's are very restrictive. Other people who have swapped out the I.M from a D16 claim 15hp gain alone from this:shocked:

I still don't buy it. While it can be argued that the D14 is easier to tune than the DOHC engines because their specific output is so high from the factory, I just don't see you gaining 20bhp from basic breathing mods on a shopping trolley motor.

for the price of all those mods, you could probably have bought a B16A lump and had a much better package, without the reliability issues of a tuned engine.

There is dyno sheets to prove different. Have a look on D-series.org

Claim is something else than proven numbers :D Do not underestimate the power of the placebo effect. Your brain does like to **** with you :D

I agree:p However the numbers I have seen were on D14's with full exhaust and I.M swap. so I inquired about the I.M swap to see what gains could be achieved and members "claim" 15hp from that alone.

guys if you shop clever you can have a 30hp gain with minimum cost. The following has been done and proved with dynoplots.
