I'm a little confused - Do I want Waxoyl or Underbody seal ?
I want to do the underbody, under arches, front and rear of my JDM 96 Spec Integra.

There is some slight surface rust just behind the front bumper. Everywhere else seems fine. But I've not had the rear bumper off yet...

I've had a look on Halfords website. I found this to be most suitable? Am I right?

1 -
Hammerite Underbody Seal 2.5L from Halfords Price £9.99
Is this a "brush on" or "spray" method?
Does this stuff give off a shiny or matt surface when applied?

2-
Hammerite Waxoyl Jumbo Sprayer from Halfords Price £10.99
Waxoyl Rust Proofing Black 5L from Halfords Price £19.99
This looks like the easier way to do it. Attach the spray to the 5Litre tin and start spraying.
But is does this come out matt or shiny?

I want mine looking like this, the MATT BLACK effect.

Traditional Waxoyl used in the above pics, whatever that is?

that in the picture is known as underbody schutz or underseal

use waxoyl on the front crossmember etc and inside box sections

underseal on floor pans under arches etc, or just use the black waxoyl for it all.

After working with waxoyling myself using the clear waxoyl & jumbo sprayer from halfords, and finding it extremely difficult do do a good job, i finally threw in the towel & got it done professionally.

My underbody now looks exactly as in the pictures above & I have complete peace of mind about the quality of the job (i watched him do the whole lot) all crossmemebrs & chassis legs done with a clear, thinner waxoyl spray & the underbody trated with the black hardwax.

Cost about £400, but I think your gonna be looking about that to get the same quality of work as in the pictures above. Check out this site & see what you think. I highly recommend them:

HA. I was on Rust Master website earlier. After seeing there prices, I closed the window.
I can't afford that much. I would rather do it myself.

Thanks for your input though Jokes :)

did mine with black Waxoyl , did the hole lot on the ramps.

used wire brush to clean up anytihng including rust, then degreased hole bottom of the car.

Take it to Tom at TGM, sure he did the whole underneath of our DC5 for around the £100 mark. Then take the bumpers off and do that with spray tins of Waxoil yourself. Once ours is on the road it will be going down to Toms to be fully waxoiled.

Underseal is not a good idea, as if there is any rust, water, any moisture, it will carry on rustting under the underseal and you wont see it till its too late.

Waxoil ftw.

Id get it done properly, got a quote for £200 on my ek4 (fully done) with waxoyl

alrite Bon i did mine with the 5l black waxoyl, goes matt after it dries, makes a really gd job.u wil really need a ramp 2 do it proper tho.there r rubber gromits u wil hav 2 take out and spray inside.so best usin a schutz gun connected 2 compressor for best results.

jumbo sprayer things from halfords are ****, dont even bother, like said before borrow or hire a small compressor and buy a schutz gun, they cost about a tenner from a motor factors
dont get waxoyl on rubber bushes, flexys etc either, it does them no good.

good preperation is the key to a good job, take time cleaning, remove as many things from the car as you can mask up your bushes etc, edges and corners are most important as thats where corrosion begins. two thin coats is better than one thick coat as well as gets more even coverage... i've waxoyled a fair few cars in my time and its not fun:(( be patient and it'l be ok.
good luck with it:nice:
