wheel stuck on

i just started to replace my back brake pads and can not remove the back wheel. i have taken the nuts of and the wheel seems to be seized on. has any one got any suggestions?

Hit the tyre with a lump of wood (from behind). Make sure someones there to catch the wheel just incase it drops off, all of a sudden.

Hey Bud.. I have had the same problem with my second car ( jeep ).. What to do is get a large rubber mallot or you can use your hands.. Cover the front of the wheel with a sheet to protect the paint.. Then start to bang the tyre around the edges on the inside. ( closest to car ).. Hit it from different points making sure you do opposites to keep it equal.. Keep giving it gentle persuation and it should come free !!

Just for future reference leave the nuts on about 3 turns, stops the wheel falling on its face

clean and lightly copper grease the centre which the wheel sits on, should stop it getting stuck again.
