but you could say it would make people believe that the police are not able to protect them anymore...if i saw the army going past now even if i knew they were here to protect me it would still lead me to believe the police are not up to the job of protecting me.
all police officers have sworn an Oath of office to Protect and Serve... if the army have to come in what view does that give the public of the police.

Shame then that they are too tied up with Political correctness and health and saftey bullshit to actually do anything. Plus the legal system is this country is a farce... :((

We're no strangers to rioting here in Northern Ireland :D Seems to me Englands police force aren't well enough equipped & obviously as something like this has never really happened in England (not on this scale anyway) they have little to no experience on dealing with it. There's talk the PSNI are to send over some of our Armored Land Rovers to help & some of their officers are over training the Met on dealing with Riots (Not mentioned below however). But the PSNI can't send over any additional officers due to operational commitments.

As for the Army, most of our Army are now out of the country or just back from tours abroad & on leave

On a smaler scale it was a shame to see that furniture store burned to
the ground after surviving world wars,great depression etc then to get burned down by a bunch of mindless thugs....

When you see Mothercare and Tesco being looted, you have to ask yourself, is this all about TV's and just having a laugh??? I am not at all surprised by any of this.

I think the army should be drafted in to help reassure public and "back-up" the police. When i mention the army should be brought in, i didnt mean drop the police! The police could probably use a lot of the vehicles the army have and the knowledge they have!

Now, i definitely do not want to go down the road of Black's and White's......personally i dont care what skin colour you are or where you are originally from! A CRIME IS A CRIME, and it needs tougher measures to solve it! In no way does that mean go in guns blazing, they need to look at non lethal measures but measures tougher than running at them with a bit lid!

On the water cannon that was mentioned, i am sure i seen it, BUT this was the discussion of using one as per the Irish policing. And the video clip was a clip from Ireland :nice: May be wrong, didnt watch it all night :run:

They are using Blackberry Chat to organise this because it is encrypted so police etc cannot trace anything, things like facebook and twitter are getting used to cause diversions saying its happening in a place where its not to distract police.....i agree with the reporter last night that BB should shut down chat service between 6pm and 6am (or something along these lines) to stop this secret chat the police cannot monitor......

Edit: Having 16,000 police in london was all good, what about the police that left manchester etc to be in london when manchester actually needed them? London was not stretched for resources but clearly other towns will be as numbers in the police for that area drop....this is why i think army personnel need to be used to help numbers instead of pulling them from other already stretched forces. plus 20% cuts to police force over the next 4 years.....BIG MISTAKE!

Only water cannons we had when I was in northern ireland with the army were borrowed from Belgium, some serious force behind them when they let rip.

All the ones who've arrested for looting/rioting, get them some orange coveralls and chain them up while they clean up the streets the next day in front of the public.
All the people I've seen preaching about living in squalor on tv have been waving mobile phones about in designer gear.
 
i think, this is the start of the end of capitalism. one more step and we are in the war.
