What pads should i go with for a daily driver plus the odd track day in my ek9? Will have been covered loads but i cant search on my fone for some reason

For cheap and just the odd track day I'd go for EBC yellow. Had them on my car and I've only just outgrown them really. Mines more track than road which is why I have a stronger pad.

I'm with jesse, the yellow's are good in the fact they work on track, don't produce a stupid amount of dust, good value, I did 2.5 track days on one set and they get better as you pass more heat through them I found.

Or you could research some carbon lorraine, hawk, ferodo racing etc.. which all seem well rated brands.

I'm in the same boat looking for pads,

I want something good that won't overheat the discs and cause them to crack,

I always seem to have the same issue regardless of what brand disc I use,

Could be the pads, or your braking technique? I used to overheat the yellows very easily because I wasn't on the pedal hard enough for a short period, just on them softer for a longer time.

I've used various different pads and disc combo's in the past on many different cars, I think the only set up that's lasted me were Brembo plain discs with ds2500 ferodo pads, but that was on a dc5

Perhaps it is my technique causing part of the problem

On my wilwoods I went for performace friction 97 £175 race pads

No doubt great pads, but not best for him.

Op could step up a level over yellows and get ds2500 or carbon Lorraine rc5, more expensive and more track focused but can be used daily.

Ive got a full set of practically new Carbone Lorraine RC5+ there if your interested ?

I would recommend them anyway , as they are a fantastic dd/track pad !

from what iv seen i think i will go with yellow stuff pads cheers guys

don't really rate anything from CL, i ran RC6 on my EK9 and they were either on or off and destroyed discs being a very aggressive cintered compound - the RC5+ literally fell apart on my mates M3 after a couple track days

Yellow stuff may work well on a lighter car such as the EK9 but on my dads FD2 i managed to cook them on the road on a spirited drive home from Fort William to Ballater........ I know Dunsy rated them on his old EK9 however

Yellow stuff is a good compromise for all round use though, dixcel Z's and DS2500 give off horrific dust which is a nightmare to keep on top of being high carbon pads where the yellow stuff is more a ceramic based one

disc wise stick with OEM or Brembo blanks - the runout/quality of EBC's is shocking

From personal experience,
I found yellow stuff very very dusty.
But liked them.

Now using ds2500 which feel a lot nicer, and barely any dust difference.
If anything I'd say a little less dusty...:/

I ran Yellow's and Brembo OE Blanks and to be honest i dont think thye provide enough bite, and like Jake said, i think they are very dusty.

I need sharper pads that arent going to kills the discs in 1 day, track only pads.

Ferodo Racing DS2500 brake pads? Dunno, just a suggestion :p I have them on the Daihatsu and they're A1 :nice:

I have got hawk pads on my em1 and I find them to be very good for road use, quite dusty but very good for the money

Couldn't rate Cl's enough. Serious pads, hard waring, long lasting, serious stopping power and very hard to glaze or overheat!! Also not too hard on the pocket

Been running DS2500s on the race car. The original set lasted 2 seasons! Just replaced them but there was still meat on them.
Very good cold bite and take loads of abuse. Longest stint I did was an hour around Croft last year :D other than that a lot of 15-20 minute races with the odd 45 minutes flat out.

I can supply them at good prices as well as EBC etc...
