what discs and pads

when i ran stock discs/pads/calipers i got bad brake fade a good few times, i like to brake hard and late though so that was why!!!

running AP dixcel PD plain discs and Endless CCX pads (spoon calipers too) and braking is unreal, no fade at all but you need to get some heat in the brakes to get the full potential, as they get hotter they just get better and better, so much so that you start to slide forward on your seat and if you push too hard on the pedal it feels like you're going to come to a standstill

lol nice one, sad to say i ain`t got the cash to fork out for a set of spoon calipers sadly:( lol will try another set of pads and see if that helps, could be cheap crap pads that are in it the now not removed them yet to check.

cheers

talkin bout pads went on a blast on a country road couple days ago pushing it quite hard and after bout 10 mins experianced seriously bad brake fade. Scared the hell out me as it took me longer to stop, when i did the front brakes had over cooked smoking quite badly, Just wondering if thats just down to the pads that are on the car ? not sure what they are but the discs look oem. And would it be worth while changing the brake fluid as well ?

I think i may have had a similar issue to you there Gav, was hammering the country lanes & found after a short while that under heavy braking the performance of the brakes deteriorated massively, felt a slight vibration through the pedal too..

I presume that it was down to a build up of gas (I think this is what occurs) between the disc & pad & when i took the front pads off they were starting to crack slightly down the middle, althought they did appear to be OEM.

Since fitted a set of EBC Redstuff & havent noticed anything like this since, but surface of the pad is divided into 2 halfs, so think this may help avoid build ups under heavy braking..

Be interested to know if anyone else has experienced anythin like this...

one thing often overlooked is brake fluid, it shoudl be changed every 2 years, i find when changing teh brake fluid oon a standard car it makes an amazing difference,, also well worth upgrading to DOT 5.1 whilst you are at it...
just be carefull you dont get mixed up and buy dot 5 that is silicone based and no good for our cars..

thanks for all your help and opinions after lookin into this i have decided keepin to stock as i havent had any problems with them at all . and after speakin to honda today there prices are pretty good which is very unusual lol

anyway thanks for your help folks much appreciated .

AP Dixel Disc's with Endless SSS pads - I've got them front and rear and the brakes are phenomenal, so much better than the stock brakes that i used to have on it.
