Went to the drag strip today

lol, thanks jimmy. Yes much fun hehe :D

Gee what did you write and then delete? lol

Nice time :)

Just need to work on that 60ft. If you are serious about getting it down, get a longer 1st and some traction bars. Of course, that's on top of some decent front tires and lower pressure.

Im sorry but is this the drag strip of hopes and dreams?

Managed a 13.83 @ 103.01 mph in my DC2

You must have some mega MEGA mods to run a real 13.8. Il await your spec list before I go any further.

Hi Dan,

I was the guy in the Teg that had a chat with you a few times.

Glad you got a 13.7 in the end.

Well done fella.

Managed a 13.83 @ 103.01 mph in my DC2 on the saturday, but was running 3/4 tank fuel.

Car needs a geometry set-up also, so hopefully should see a 13.6 there.

I think the gearing on the 4.4FD box is better suited to drag as 3rd and 4th are closer together than the 4.7FD box.

Anyway, nice to meet you.

Catch you at the next one :)

Hay mate, i didnt realize you where on here? :nice:

Thanks for the bit of advice on the day, i will go back there with a different tire and lower that pressure down.

I also had 3/4 tank fuel funnily enough

Funny you say about the 4.7 box as everyone says that the 4.7 is better for dragging? 13.8 is a great time though man :drive:

Should see you soon. Im hopin to go up there very soon again to have a few more goes :secret:

Yes that would be great a longer first gear, i see what your saying. When i got the money i think some gears from you have to go in :nice:

Great time Dan and great pic also! :)

Cheers mate :)

No worries dino :) and thanks.

To clarrify any doubters out there i went there before hand in my EK9 when i just got it with exhaust and apexi air filter and i ran concistant 15.4's and best was a 15.2.

My car now i hit concistant 13.8 then last two runs hit 13.7. they were getting better.

So there is nothing wrong with the strip as the comparisons show. Most evos were hitting low 14's etc. in fact a good few of the powerful cars were hitting 14's obviously with the few exceptions.

With the few mods Dino has on the DC2 makes a very fast car.

I dont see why this is so hard to believe???????????
I ran a 13.9 with mine last year on CRAP tyre's & a quite strong headwind!
So i see both these lads time's as VERY GOODIMO:nice:

There are 3 (that I can think of) ek9 with b18c's on this forum with breathing mods and one with a FD, and they run >14 which I can believe. However I still dont believe a teg with breathing mods will run a 13.6 like the guy said he thinks he will.

My mates charged ep3 running 298 horsepower does a 13.5 on r888's and Haribos ek9 runs a 13.4 with a built strokered b16b with a complete mfactory gearset, and this guy is claiming a 13.7 with a dc2 with breathing mods.

Doubt it.

You do have some very good point's there!:secret:
But if that's the times they got then who are we to say other wise?
It has a lot down to the drivers as well!

103mph trap is good for low 13s. Just need to sort out your 60fts :)

times seem a little suspicious dan

in my ek9 i got 13.95 @ 104mph with a 60ft time of 2.150 on toyo t1S's and no LSD

this was on a runway of an airport which had little traction and was on a slight incline up

timing gear was set up and run by the same crew that do santa POD

figures seem to conflict

and @ dino

the same day i was racing the fastest DC2 that was there managed a 14.41 which was breathed out to the max with j's intake spoon manifold and spoon exhaust as well as stripped to the bone on road tyres

your dreaming if you think a teg will get 13's at all without seriouse gearbox / management mods

there are so many variables when drag racing, having good tyres is not a great advantage, tyre grip, yes, has an initial advantage but it just creates more friction down the strip, thus slowing you down. Tyre pressures are far more important. air temperature, humidity, etc etc are all going to vary throughout the day and will depend on the location of the strip too, you need to mess around with your car and tyre pressures to see what works best for YOUR own car, every car is different so there's no one perfect set-up/formula to follow to get your optimum time, the driver is often the biggest variable in truth:drive:

right,

However suspicious the times i got are, they are the times i got. And to compare, i already said i went to that same strip when i first got my EK9 with my B16B and could only manage a 15.2 @ 92MPH.

On that day there were some very powerful cars that could not manage good times. So i was no exception to the rest. Alot of people on the day were coming up to me asking what the hell i had in my car to go so quickly. They thought i had cams/pistons etc.

Even i was shocked. But im not being funny nothing can really touch me on the road either. I get comments all the time for why the car is so quick.

The times fully add up IMO, hard to believe yes, but when racing other well known fast cars and im pulling on them i think well a 13.7 does make sense....

I also would like to think im pretty decent at dragging.

"ninety-one-racing" speaks some good sense.

I cannot scan my slip as i only have a lap top but here is what the slip says that was the best time:

REACTION - 0.674
60ft - 2.290
330ft - 5.905
MPH - 81.27
660ft - 8.928
990ft - 11.473
MPH - 101.10
13.781

People can go on all day but im not lying.
