Vtec not engaging

Hi guys. vtec isnt working, wondered if any1 had same prob they can help me out with, when the vtec is about to engage it makes a mechanical click noise. took my car to get mapped and they didnt have time to fix vtec and map so they just mapped as had to get turbo set up. they says i can take it back, would only cost £200 max to get it fixed bt wondered if any1 on here maybe had same problem and has a solution to it. would be great if u can pm me with ways to fix,

not really anywhere near enough information man, and some of it just plain doesnt make sense haha.

vtec is controlled by

oil pressure
oil temprature/coolant temp
vtec solenoid
vss
ecu

and probably some more stuff iv forgotten

EDIT: how could they map your car without vtec :s what garage where you at?

because u just disconect the vtec solenoid mate. engine still runs fine, just a 1.6 tho,ha. these guys no there stuff. they werent keen to map it without vtec but i wanted thum to as i didnt want the turbo running with high presures or anything so got it set up, so u got no ideas with the vtec then?
 
an it managed to reach 340-350bhp without the vtec and guy who mapped says, once vtec fixed al reach 400bhp, got s**t loads o turbo lag tho because i dont have vtec to carry speed up to when turbo kicks in

what are you even talking about? if you disconnected the vtec solenoid then thats why you dont have vtec.

tell us who mapped it, they sound top notch

are you the same guy that said Mark at the Garage Live mapped it and you dont have print outs or anything
 
yup, and he mapped it without vtec cos vtec wasnt working wen it was connected up.made a clicking noise. thats why vtec plug disconected, guna take it bk to um to finnish, he couldnt fin it cos he ran out of time and i had to take car back home because i didnt have anyway other means of transport.He didnt want to map it without vtec bt i was persistant he mapped it how it was. he says 340-350bhp. yes mark, knows his stuff like. top notch. ad recomend um to any1, iv been to a few performace places around scotland and to be honest the garage is best place iv *** across
 
you got 350bhp with no vtec just the turbo on a 1.6 engine? really?? sound unreal man,you must have a big turbo there
 
hmm i know marc and dennis @the garage and something here just doesnt add up

is your car on powerfc? what is it you drive exactly

EDIT: also give it a rest with the text talk.
 
check connection on speedo as a friends car had this problem and thats what it was
 
t3/t4 turbonetics turbo, get sum kick from it. real nice sound from it. will need to get it dynod on comp to see bhp figures on papper
