Turbo'd B16B

From what most of the techies on here say...its whatever your tuner feels most confortable with. What turbo kit/boost are you planning on running dude?

Hondata might be a good option especially with the boost by gear option. but as D'janiero said its really up to what tuner you choose and what their most confident with using.

Is it safe to run a turbo setup on a B16B with just a double headgasket... Would be runnin in on low boost...

I've been readin the other threads and some people say its not the best engine to turbo and others say its ok... Any help here???

Is there any point of boosting stock internals ?

well if i run it at low boost its meant to be safe and fun.. all i want is a bit a boost, not lookin for a massive power gain, just somethin interestin :)

Not too sure if you've read the thread I started mate, but there was alot of info on there in regards to your question:

http://www.ek9.org/forum/forced-induction/6764-turbo-b16a-v-b18c-conversion-opinions-needed.html

When I looked into it, pretty much all the tuners I spoke to said it could be done on stock internals, running low boost, but it would be like a ticking time bomb:((.
Its sapposedly pretty hard to tune high compression turbo engines, hence why most tuners over here don't like tuning them.
To do it properly you'd use a b16a block (fully built with forged internals) then use the head, cams etc from the b16b.
I'm sure ek9turbo and Blinx will be able to explain more in detail with their response.

ok fair enough the apexi power fc is good. Ive got one in my ek9

As usual the best ecu is something that controls BOTH fuel and ignition and one your tuner can tune. Moved to Forced Induction section.

should be safe just keep it under 300whp.

D'janiero the thicker headgasket would drop the compression a lot to make it easier to tune and less likely to detonate :nice: As you state though the proper way would be to use a b16a or b18c block with at least forged pistons and rods.

the high compression makes the b16b it harder to tune than other stock engines.

remember running richer may loose power, but fuel cools the piston. As a personal preference,id want it tuned a little on the rich side.

as said thereup.. keep it under 300, bit richer afr, not to rich, safe ignition,.. it's better to loose 1 horsepower, than loosing 1 engine..:) stock internals will do just fine... management: eCtune, Hondata..

Top Fuel Japan built my car n im running apexi power fc, stock internals but thick head gasket...im currently running 10 psi. everyday use so its pretty safe.... but dont run it too rich either. Make sure u get someone to tune it right.
