was up guys, im here asking the great community of ek9 about turbo.

i have a 2000 ek coupe, gsr swap in it. pretty quick, i want faster.

the gsr is stock that i know off, but to be honest runs like hell. i beat a b20vtec ek.

im thinking of dropping a turbo kit on it, and keep it at safe 8psi, maybe 9-10 after tuning, after seeing in honda tech, most of their gsr are boosted at 10 psi safely after a good tune.

my question is, my exhaust piping is 2.5, is a greddy spectrum just bought, sounds awsome and would hate to sell it. the turbo piping is also 2.5.

1-im i gonna lose alot of power from not having a 3 inch all over??

2-the kit is a full turbonetics kit, ac compatible. ius this a decent brand for a gsr?

3- turbo says turbonetics and says t28444 and i would like to know what kind of turbo is it. it came off my friends boosted car he parted out. ran pretty good.

those are my 3 questions, thx alot.

2.5" is fine. I ran a 2.5" exhaust on my last turbo build. I planned to change to 3" as yes, bigger is better with turbo, but I was looking at running high boost. I don't think you'll lose that much power really...

Bigger isn't always better in a small displacement motor! Mega lag then all or nothing surge! But if your after massive numbers big is the way to go!

well im not too familiar with honda engines but on my sr20de s13 i run 3 inch.. bigger gives you better top end :) and the exhaus sound will change to a bit quieter

well im aiming for 315whp-350 whp tuning at 9-10 psi.

its a turbonetics 60 trim full kit.

350 whp on 10 psi? would've thought you would need alot higher psi to achieve that. i'm by far an expert though. :(

Youll be fine up to 350whp w that exhaust as long as u have no cat, meow ;)

350 @10 psi on that turbo? not really

i would use the 3'' exhaust and dp... but you can get away with the 2.5 if your trying to stay in the low 300 hp...but results would not be the same.

i made 431 at 18psi on a t3 t67 on a stock gsr...
made 433 on 15psi on a 6765 on the same motor...

ran almost an entire race season then rings whent

I didn't say anything about the turbo, only that 2.5" exhaust can support 350whp. Which is correct, hell it can support 400whp even...

Not trying to be an ass but watch the backpressure go through the roof with a 2.5'' system, whats the point? Swap it out for a bigger system and be ready for future mods. Boost is like crack, you have a little then you always need more.

Yes but again im still correct in my statment, you are now talkin about other things, fact-2.5" exhaust can, will, and has supported 350 to 400whp, im not advocating it, just sayin its possible.

agree boost its like crak you always need more till you blow your engine hahahaha thats why i just sleeved this time i want to see how much those darton sleeveds are going to hold im trying to hit 600whp this time at 22-25psi

Crack ????

Bigger is always better for a turbo motor, you want the gasses out as easily as possible so the turbo itself is efficient.
Bigger intercooler pipes etc will have an effect on lag and obviously the size of the turbo itself.
If it were me anything near 300bhp(uk numbers lol) i would be looking at a 3" exhaust, and i am.:)
Just for reference i know of a b18c4 turbo that made an extra 20bhp and about the same amount of torque just by changing the exhaust from 2.5 to 3"
