Hi all,

Having a go at fitting my PasswordJDM 3-point strut brace and having some troubles. The brace won't quite span the two suspension mounts, only about half a mm out to fitting perfectly (also it isn't catching on anything else). Is there anything I can to make it reach (jack the car up...)

Thanks

It's the front... It is weird... There's just not quite enough leeway...

yeh it strange thats y ask front or back...but ur right 3pnt is only front..was thinkin x-bar

the shocks come up through the body on a slight angle try jacking the front of the car up installing the brace then bring the shocks back up into the mountings, does seem strange though haven`t tried fitting mine yet,

looks like you shouldn`t have to do that though,,

unless you`re running aftermarket suspension which may have longer mounting studs possibly, that`s all i can think of... if so my method should sort you out,,

also i would make sure your car is sat on perfectly level ground when installing the bar and tourqing up the mounting bolts

Just installed mine and yes I had to do this because I have aftermarket suspension.

Didn't quite fit, like half a mm out like you say. It would have forced on but I didn't want to knacker my threads.

So jacked the car up, and it fitted no worries! :nice:

Looks awesome too!

Cool thanks guys. Anyone know the torque setting for the bolts on top if the struts?

Right... I've undone the top nuts and jacked one side up a bit... But the struts won't drop down... Am I missing a bolt somewhere?

Gave up on this in the end... could not get the shock to drop out to give me the clearance...

Anyone got a guide on how to do this, going to have another go at the weekend. Thought about taking the pin out of the bottom until I realised there was still some load on it from the spring... lol

Don't drop the shock out. jack up the whole front of the car and this will take the stresses out of the mounting and give you the 0.5 mm back. Bobs your uncle.

Just fitted one on a MB6 had the same problem. We had to jack up the car on one side a it fit over the bolts.

I had similar problem when putting back on my strut brace after having it painted. Had to jack up whole front of car a fair bit to get the clearance i needed how much is it short of fitting?

Will try Jacking it up again higher to see if this helps. If not can anyone tell me the easiest way of droping the shock out a bit? Or is there no easy way due to the double wishbone setup?

Use a hammer to push down the shock if you must, but screw a nut on there first and even but a towel over the the piece so it does not damage the threads.

didnt have this problem either....
How much are you out by?
Pic?

Only around 0.5 - 1mm off it fitting. . Sorry no pics but basically the bolts are too long and the brace is catching on the thread because of the angle of the bolts.

Use a hammer to push down the shock if you must, but screw a nut on there first and even but a towel over the the piece so it does not damage the threads.

Tried the hammer approach ;) (hammering the bolts - carefully). Its almost like the whole thing is being held up by something else underneath... maybe this is due to the lowness of the coilovers + the camber arms (-2.5 at the front). Am I being really dense, lol...
